The Original Lord of the Mic Returns…

The Bossman with Bars is back! Having taken a break from music to run a business and go back to University, Kal Sereousz returns in winter 2012 ushering in 3 projects in 3 months with his hard hitting rap style over some of the best production in the UK rap scene.

Putting in work in the underground in the early 2000’s Kal Sereousz first rose to prominence with his crew Phobia producing their 2004 single ‘Keep It Moving’. Having been a battle emcee and a producer Kal took a break from music but returned as a solo artist years later. Since dropping the solid Terrorist City: Beta Version in 2010, Kal kept himself relevant with numerous features including on Jon Phonics’ ‘Half Past Calm 2’ and Raggo Zulu Rebel’s ‘The Return of Jah Messenger’.

A lot had been happening for Kal Sereousz outside of music which has been character building and will no doubt become the catalyst for engaging subject matter. For the last couple of years Kal has been running an IT Support business and more recently training to become a Teacher. On a more personal note he has also split up with his long term girlfriend and stood by his mother as she suffered a crippling illness. One may expect to hear a more mature style of rap from the East London native. The combination of these life experiences could make for some interesting and unique lyrical content.

Like the man hasn’t been busy enough, all the while he has been slowly building a studio and is now in a good position to record regularly and release new material via his newly formed label S.A.Music.

The first S.A.Music release is an EP titled ‘Leftovers’ which is out now for free download. As the name suggests ‘Leftovers’ is comprised of tracks that didn’t make the cut of other projects. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind leftovers from a Sunday roast cooked by Gordon Ramsey. Those that have heard Kal Sereousz already know that the man is an awesome lyrical chef with a great ear for music and you should look forward to hearing the ‘Leftovers EP’.

The second release due November 19th is dubbed the ‘It Only takes One Mixtape’ but features all original production so is unofficially an LP. The third release due December 17th is the focal point, the climax that the two prior releases have been preparing you for. ‘IT Only Takes One’ the LP.

The EP and Mixtape are both free downloads. The Mixtape and the LP have a theme that is relative to the title: Kal tackles each song on IOT1 armed with just one verse. In order to make things more interesting Kal uses a variety of song arrangements in what promises to be a refreshing new way to approach a record.

All three releases are supported by heavyweight beats from his consistent production team of Jon Phonics, Chemo and Kelakovski. Lesser known producers also bring the heat as well as Kal chipping in with some bangers of his own. Crissy Criss and Wizard contribute heavily to the IOT1 LP. Features on the mic include some of the UK’s finest lyricists including Sonny Jim, Masikah, Cappo and many more.
