Chicago’s DJ Earl makes mostly “Footwork” music, a House subgenre related to Juke with a heavy emphasis on dancing (hence the name.)  I know little about this type of music but the genre usually reminds me of Baltimore Club because of its repetitive vocal samples.  “Break” is a little different. The song reminds me of Drum and Bass; the fast pace and prominent usage of the “Amen Break” fit right in (its no wonder Earl has a big UK fanbase.)  “Break” is pretty simple,  but the drums and occasional synths work.  The Mixmag exclusive has over 10,000 plays, although the download link doesn’t appear to be working…if they put the track back up I’ll update this post.
