A partial verdict has come back in the murder for hire trial of former CEO of Czar Entertainment and former manager of Game, James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, though it wasn’t related directly to the murder at hand. Henchman’s co-defendant, Rodney Johnson, is charged with the same four counts of murder for hire and conspiracy as Henchman, but also had three additional charges of conspiracy to distribute narcotics, weapons possession related to drug trafficking, and felony firearm possession. The jury returned a verdict today convicting Johnson of his three separate charges, according to Henchman’s attorney J. Bruce Maffeo.
The case stems from the September 2009 murder of G-Unit affiliate Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher, killed in the Bronx, allegedly as retaliation for slapping Henchman’s 14-year-old son on the street in 2007. Prosecutors contend that Henchman hired Johnson and four others to murder Mack as part of a long-running “blood feud” between members of Czar Entertainment and G-Unit that began around 2003. No verdict was returned on either Henchman’s or Johnson’s murder charges, and the jury reconvenes tomorrow morning to continue deliberating on those additional charges.
Johnson, 40, was originally arrested hiding under sheet rock at a cocaine stash house in April of 2010 with 12 kilos of cocaine, while weapons and an additional five kilos of cocaine were found in his car. Henchman is already serving life in prison after being convicted in 2012 of running a multi-million-dollar drug trafficking ring.
