Two former Bay area residents, Zaytoven and DJ Vlad talk about the music scene there and how Zay started producing. I knew that he started producing largely because of JT the Bigga Figga (know rapping in Atlanta as Figg Panamera) but I didn’t know that he also worked with guys like E-40, San Quinn and Messy Marv, all in high school. Very interesting, especially if you think about how Zaytoven’s Hyphy-style beats shaped and changed Southern Rap, specifically Trap, immensely.
