USA Today reported The US Bureau of Prisions recently announced that it will be selling MP3 players to nearly 200,000 inmates across the country. Inmates will be able to buy the player from their prison’s commissary. Inmates will have a select list of songs they can download (nothing “explicit or racially charged”). The idea is to decrease the boredom and stress inmates feel on a day-to-day basis, with the hope being this will increase prison security.
