Lauryn Hill delivered an exclusive Valentine’s Day performance at the Palladium in Hollywood, and the former Fugees’ member had a personal message for those in attendance. During the show, Hill referenced the death of Whitney Houston as a good reason for the public to give their favorite stars a break when they don’t live up to the expectations of fans…
“Aren’t you tired of losing our people?” Hill asked the crowd. “I am. Love your artists. When they falter, hold them accountable. But love them. People are now showing Whitney Houston the love and respect she should have received throughout her career — through all of it.”
Coming towards the end of the show, the gravity of the statement was punctuated by the fact that it was one of the first times during her set that Hill opted to engage the sold-out crowd with conversation. In consideration of her own personal problems the statement was all the more touching.
“I’m in transition still,” Hill continued to share with her fans. “Be patient with me. New is coming.”
