Reports AllHipHop:

The violence in the rap community in Chicago continues, with the shooting death of aspiring rapper Johnny Boy Da Prince.

The rapper, born Johnny Taylor, had been fielding offers from a variety of record labels, from Epic and Universal, to Atlantic Records

The 23-year-old rapper, who was planning a trip to New York to meet with record label executives, was shot and killed in the Garfield Park neighborhood.

Police said they found the rapper wounded in an alley.

Although doctors attempted to save his life at Mount Sinai Hospital, Johnny Boy Da Prince was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Andrew Fechter, an assistant with Atlantic Records, told the Chicago Tribune that Johnny Boy had a bright future.

“He was definitely talented,” Fechter said. “I personally believe he had a bright future in the music business. He definitely would have had a career.”
