From XXL:

This month’s issue of XXL celebrates Beats Electronics with the first ever magazine cover featuring Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine and Eminem. Beats By Dre initially took over the industry with their headphones six years ago. Now Beats is at it again with the brand’s newest endeavor, Beats Music, a music streaming service which focuses on the curation of playlists by genre experts (including XXL). Eminem, one of the biggest artists under Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s direction, launched the promo for his most recent solo album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 with a Beats Music commercial, kicking off the campaign for the service, which is now available in the iTunes store.

In the magazine, Dre—celebrating his birthday today—Jimmy and Em reflect on the impact they have made on music of all genres though the Beats brand and how the streaming service could very well change the way fans consume their music.

Besides special interviews with three of the biggest dogs in hip-hop, the issue also features stories on ScHoolboy Q, who drops his solo debut Oxymoron next Tuesday 2/25. Hit-Boy and his HS87 group discuss what they’re cooking up, 10 rappers break down the most difficult verse they ever wrote and Show & Proves on Lil Bibby, Vic Mensa and Chinx, plus much more.

The magazine is on stands nationally on March 11.

Janelle Monae To Perform At NFL Owners Super Bowl Party; Eminem & Kanye West Too Expensive

I’m in the right industry, wrong field. From TMZ:

Eminem got an offer he COULD refuse — an offer to sing at the NFL Owners Party during Super Bowl week that did not meet his price — $2 MILLION!

Sources connected to the party tell TMZ … reps from the event were looking for a headline act for the party that followed the dinner, which will be attended by 1,500 lucky folks. When Eminem’s agents laid out the financial terms, we’re told the owners group passed.

We’re also told the owners were interested in Kanye … but his fee was too high as well. As one source put it, “It was $1 million, plus plus plus a lot of other perks.”

In the end, we’re told the group settled on Janelle Monae, who’s going for a very reasonable $150K.

There will be a slew of singers performing at various events in NYC during Super Bowl week. We’re told DJs are the big thing … and the big ones are going for between $750K and $1 million.

Eminem’s Childhood Home Destroyed By Fire, Demolished

What could have been arson ends up being the demise of Eminem’s childhood home. From NME:

The home, which features on the cover of Eminem’s new album, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’, as well as its 2000 prequel, was the owned by the Detroit rapper’s mother between 1989 and 2003. On November 7 the property caught fire and was demolished last week (November 20) after officials at Michigan Land Bank, who own the property and land it sat on deemed the building “structurally unsafe.”

MLive, a local Michigan paper, reports that crews started tearing down the home last week and are expected to be finished with debris removal at the lot by the end of this month (November). “The condition of the property post-fire presents a safety hazard that the Land Bank is responsible for removing,” Michigan Land Bank director Kim Homan said in a statement. “The goal is to demolish and clean up the site, so neighborhood safety and order can be restored.”

Prior to destruction, Eminem’s teenage home went on sale at auction. A fan from Tennessee called Shelly Hazlett has submitted a $100 bid for the property and said she would turn the house into an Eminem museum if her offer was approved by the state. The house – one of many abandoned houses in the neighborhood – had a starting bid of $1. State officials tried to reach out to Eminem to see if he wanted to bid on the property, but didn’t receive interest. The land the property sat on is still available to purchase.

Eminem Covers Rolling Stone; May Be Getting Back With Ex-Wife Kim

eminem-rolling-stone

The above issue of Rolling Stone is out now…..in related news, sources are stating that — while not officially together — Eminem could be reuniting with ex-wife Kim Mathers sometime in the future:

Could the rumors be true? Are Eminem and his ex-wife Kim Mathers on the road to reconciliation?

“They really have a great relationship now as parents,” a source tells Us Weekly of the “Monster” rapper, 41, and Kim, 38; along with their daughter Hailie, 17, Eminem is raising Mathers’ niece Alaina, and Whitney, her other daughter from another relationship.

“They aren’t back together yet — per se — but anything could happen and they are together all the time for the sake of the kids,” the source adds. Kim’s mother Kathy Sluck told RadarOnline earlier this week that her daughter and former son-in-law “might [get back together soon], they get on better than ever.”

On yea, one more thing: Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP 2 has hit the Platinum mark.
