J. Cole – Truly Yours (EP)

truly-yours-cover

J. Cole just blessed us folks with some new music as he continues to ready his 2nd official effort. Very necessary:

It’s time. I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album. And I have. Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space) .

Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them. It’s hard as fuck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul.. The wait is over.

Truly Yours,

Born Sinner

PS- 1st single coming this week. The album is hands down my best work yet. Can’t wait to share.

J. Cole (@JcoleNC)– 2012

If the world ends tomorrow, J.Cole treats us with what may be his last song and tells us what he thinks about the world ending below.

If the world ends tomorrow, damn. I would be mad as shit for 2 reasons. First, I’m not with my family. That would suck. What would also be wack is if I never got to drop this song. Summer of 08′. Mark Pitts meeting had happened a month ago. He said he fucks with me, but he not talking about signing me. Ok. Fuck that. I’ma make my new shit so stupid that the next time he meet with me he gonna HAVE to sign me. Same summer I made Grown Simba and started The Warm Up with a “fuck it” mentality. A few special songs I made that summer haven’t dropped yet. This is one of them.

2012 Some of the most fun I ever had making a record. Alone in my room, making the beat, writing the raps, Jammin to this. Here we are, Years Later, and right on time. Enjoy

– oh yea. Shout to the spanish nigga that came through and played the percussions. To the cool ass horn player that laced me, I forgot his name. This was my first Quincy Jones moment. Shout to Lil Cole. Shout to Aristotle. Shout to YOU.

J. Cole (@Jcolenc)Speaks On ‘Miss America’ Single; Reveals Plans For Short Film & Possible Album Push Back

On the red Carpet last night at AMA, J.Cole took a second to speak with Billboard to talk about his latest single ‘Miss America‘ and explained why he chose to go with an unconventional sound. J. Cole also reveals shooting of a short film in December and that the sophomore album Born Sinner may not drop on January 28th, his birthday.

“We have like a responsibility and a certain power that comes with making the music and playing the music. And that comes with a responsibility to keep things fresh and not to fall into the mode of what’s traditional. I have singles that fall into that, but if I can use my power in some kind of way I’m gonna try to use it to shift culture just a little bit. And to me “Miss America” shifts things a little bit, it changes the conversation it takes it in a more aggressive direction, more raw, more social commentary. Any type of commentary is good compared to what a normal single is these days. That’s my aim is to shift culture slightly, change the conversation….nobody expects that for your first single.”

Kendrick Lamar (@KendrickLamar) – The Jig Is Up (Dump’n) (Prod. by J. Cole & Canei Finch)

Kendrick drops a new record getting back at Shyne and thanking his fans. Apparently Kendrick rapped over this beat (co-produced by J. Cole) just last night. I cannot cosign Shyne’s most recent opinion, good for Kendrick for speaking his mind. To quote the man himself; “The week is up… Yall did it… AppreciatIon day is TODAY. With that being said. Me and COLE was in the stu lastnight………..”-@KendrickLamar
