Lil’ Kim – Hard Core (Mixtape) Review

Lil Kim drops a surprisingly decent mixtape. Actually, I take that back…Here are some things I gathered from the project;

1. Intro A-minor Pt.2 – Fucked up intro, damn…No I mean the intro was good but did people actually die because of a photo of Lil Kim?

2. Stadium Music Feat. Yo Gotti – This beat sounds like Boom-Bap Just Blaze meets Zelda. Yo Gotti does really well over this beat, although it could be that he just sold the song to Kim…her verse is full of boring cliches but rides out well.

3. Identity Theft – That Nicki diss…still eh. I heard a Worldstar tag. Did Worldstar host this mixtape?

4. Real Sick Ft. Jadakiss – Obligatory. Biggie. Sample. This beat is terrible. More boring modern NY punchlines. Jadakiss does a decent guest verse.

5. Trendsetter – Hahahahahaha…I’m sorry, Lil Kim doing her best Future impression on the hook and rapping like the Migos for the verses is too much. She actually rapped well on this one though. Who ghostwrote this song?

6. MIGO Ft. TLZ & Young Bonds – Oh ok this track is actually called “MIGO”.TLZ and Young Bonds do a decent track and Kim is on the track for less than one minute but does another good New ATL flow.

7. Whenever You See Ft. Cassidy – Reggae/Rap over a “classic” style beat. Did she just take lyrics from a bunch of other songs like “Tik Tok” or some shit. Otherwise a good song though, Kim vibes well with Cassidy on this one.

8. Work The Pole – A poppy song with a 50 Cent sample about how Lil Kim can ride a stripper pole and do sex things too.

9. Suicide Ft. French Montana. Kim keeps changing her voice around. I thought it was good at first until she said “He in that trap like Mickey Mouse.” Nahhhh bruh nah. French Montana does that near-rhyme thing and stretches it further…

10. Dead Gal Walking – More Reggae stuff, pretty decent lyrics, punchlines, etc. But if you wanted to hear Reggae Rap wouldn’t you just listen to modern Reggae? Or fuckin…Damian Marley or something?

11. Kimmie Blanco – Two tracks left… Kim is the head honcho so you better have the poncho…cause she’ll rain on you

12. Haterz Ft. B Ford – Oh no not a Dubstep wobble. Damn really? If you aren’t from the UK don’t rap over anything with a wobble. Also its 2014 so America likes that EDM shit now…this is dated and out of touch in so many ways. That’s a good sentence to describe the project. Fin.

From Us Weekly:

Rapper Lil’ Kim is pregnant! “I’m so excited! I’m a few months along, I can’t wait to be a mom!” Lil’ Kim exclusively tells Us Weekly. See more pics of her baby bump here.

Lil’ Kim took to the stage at The Blonds Fashion Week after-party hosted by MAC Cosmetics at Gilded Lily in New York City on Wednesday night, Feb. 12, to announce her pregnancy. “I’m a mom, but I can turn it up a little!” she said as she rubbed her belly.

Indeed, the 39-year-old rapper doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon. “I’m still going to work,” she tells Us. “I’m still going to be hardcore. The baby has made me even more of a beast!”

Right before performing “Lighters Up” she made sure to pay tribute to the late Notorious B.I.G., telling the crowd, “It’s also going to be Biggie’s birthday and the anniversary of his death soon so we [as she points to her belly] love you.”

Lil’ Kim Reveals Pregnancy At New York Fashion Week (PICS)

I’m sure we’ll get an official confirmation from the source….in the meantime, this was spotted on IBT:

Social media feeds are buzzing with news that the Queen Bee may be preparing to welcome her own little bundle of joy.

Lil’ Kim pregnancy rumors first began to grow after Claire Sulmers, editor-in-chief of the style blog Fashion Bomb Daily, posted a picture of the rapper as she gave an interview to E! News at The Blonds New York Fashion Week runway show on Wednesday night. Though you can see her hair and face well, the rapper’s body isn’t clearly visible in the image. But the included caption is enough to stir a bit of excitement among the hip-hop icon’s fans:

“Lil Kim is here…she’s pregnant!! @theblondsny#mbfw #nyfw cc @lilkimblackbarbie @lilkimthequeenbee,” read the accompanying caption.

Lil Kim Officially Hit With Lawsuit By Zombie Makeup Artist

zom

From TMZ:

Lil Kim is on the brink of a zombie apocalypse … the makeup artist who accused the rapper of stealing her undead face has now filed a lawsuit … demanding $150K minimum.

We broke the story … Canadian artist Samantha Ravndahl vowed to sue Lil Kim after the rapper allegedly lifted her zombie image off Reddit and used it to hawk her new album. Samantha demanded a full take down from Kim’s social media platforms … but seems Kim blew her off.

Now it’s no more Miss Nice Zombie … Samantha has followed through on her promise, suing the rapper as well as the photo-sharing website WhoSay.

Calls to Kim’s reps weren’t returned.

Lil’ Kim Facing Lawsuit For Zombie Face

TMZ reports:

Lil’ Kim is 2-faced, according to an artist who claims Kim has jacked the punim she made famous … and she’s going after the rapper in a big way.

Canadian artist Samantha Ravndahl lashed out at Kim on social media websites in November for lifting her scary image off Reddit, then using it on the Lil’ Kim website and Instagram accounts to promote her music.

Ultimately, it looks like Kim blew off Samantha, so now the artist has lawyered up and fired off a letter to the rapper demanding Kim pull the image … or else.

The “or else” is suing Kim for $150K minimum.

And the lawyer’s letter points out a Lil’ irony. Kim once went on Hot 97 radio and complained Nicki Minaj stole her swag, adding, “If you are going to steal my swag, you gonna have to pay.”

What’s good for the Lil’ goose …

Queen Latifah Says Female Emcee’s Haven’t Topped Lil Kim Era

Queen-queen-latifah-30656178

Tattletailzz reports:

Would you agree with that statement? I think she is right and no lies were told, you have some that have tried and I will even put Nicki Minaj in that category but Until we get another good batch of female emcee’s we won’t see another era like the Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, Missy Elliott  era.

Latifah stopped by the Rickey Smiley show this morning and they posed a question to her, they asked her to share a list of female emcee’s that she has been impressed with over the last 15 years?

“I still think some of the best ones that have done it have yet to be topped. I still don’t think anybody has topped the whole era of Foxy, Kim, Missy, Eve, me on the tail end kinda things,” the soon-to-be television host explained. “I’m still looking forward to it not just being a one-at-a-time female rapper thing. I mean, I think Nicki Minaj is great, but I think we definitely need to blow up some of the other females that are out there.”

Her talk show which is set to debut on September 16th  ”The Queen Latifah Show” is executive produced by Will and Jada Smith. The Queen says that it will be a show with real conversationsand having real people doing major things. It will air on CBS.  I completely agree the earlierfemale rappers could hold their own when rapping with a male on a CD. Queen Bee killed it with that MOBB deep song.. Foxy’s verse on aint no nigga was the jam and still is to this day..  In terms of dominance and power in the industry, we have yet to see more female dominance than the mid 90s crew [lil kim, missy, foxy, lauryn hill, etc]

However, in terms of substance and quality. The late 80s to early 90s wins… Truth hurts…
