R. Kelly Gets 30 Years For Sex Trafficking

From the NY Daily News, where you can read the full story:

R&B singer R. Kelly was lambasted Wednesday as a “disgusting” child abuser who taught victims that “love is enslavement and violence” before being sentenced to 30 years in prison for a sex abuse scheme targeting his young fans.

The decades-long sentence in Brooklyn Federal Court capped the precipitous downfall of the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer, a self-described “musical genius” who sold more than 75 million records and won three Grammy awards. Kelly, 55, is now a convicted sex offender who claims he’s broke.

Judge Ann Donnelly told Kelly he mercilessly ruined the lives of the countless victims he serially raped, abused, and isolated “with regularity for almost 25 years.”

“This case is not about sex. It’s about violence and cruelty and control,” Donnelly told Kelly.

“These victims were disposable to you. You taught them that love is enslavement and violence and humiliation.”

Raheem Devaughn Reveals How R. Kelly Jacked his Song (via Bobby Pen)

Remember Raheem Devaughn’s “Customer” and it’s subsequent remix featuring R. Kelly? Well, there was a lot of savagery behind how the embattled Chicago star got his hands on the single. Speaking to Bobby Pen, Devaughn broke down exactly what happened, which you can see below.

…since DeVaughn wouldn’t work with R. Kelly willingly, Kells jacked the “Customer” beat, added a verse, intro, and closer and released it to the radio stations without Raheem DeVaughn’s knowledge!

“I was in New York when I heard the song on the radio,” Raheem DeVaughn states.

First, The line that says, “…and shawty if you’re thirsty, I’ve got some good, good lemonade.” Keep in mind this song came out while R. Kelly was on trial for urinating on a minor on-camera. YUCK! “I cringe every time I hear [that line,] Raheem DeVaughn said on Live.

Next, R. Kelly makes a slight at DeVaughn with the line “Young Fella, this reminds me of something I would do.” Hmmm… R. Kelly really tried Raheem DeVaughn at his own game. “Nah, this remind of something I would do because I’m the king of jacking the beats. That’s what I do. When I choose to do it, that’s what I do!” DeVaughn said.

R. Kelly (Finally) Addresses Aaliyah, Sexual Abuse, Urinating On Women & More (Sort Of)

Somehow, someone at GQ managed to get R. Kelly to speak on the very issues that he’s been avoiding since, well…forever. You can check out the full interview here — titled Confessions — and we’ve included some notable excerpts below:

In [R. Kelly’s] book, he describes a number of premature sexual experiences, including an approach by a trusted family friend, a man, who he says tried to persuade Kelly to masturbate him for money, which Kelly says he rebuffed. “It was a crazy weird experience,” he tells me. “But not a full-blown experience, because it didn’t go down. Contact sexual—no. A visual—absolutely. A visual from him showing me his penis and all that stuff.” But he describes in his memoir how the full-on sexual abuse that lasted for several years (it was oral sex the first time, though he tells me it soon became intercourse) started one day when Kelly fell asleep in front of the TV and was awoken from “a crazy dream about Three’s Company” to find a woman playing with him:

I tried to push her away, but she wouldn’t stop until she was finished. When she was, she said, “You better not say shit to no one or else you gonna get a terrible whupping.

First I ask Kelly what he saw in Aaliyah musically when he started working with her.

“Aaliyah? I heard first of all this soft voice, but very…a lot of charisma. And I saw her as a star the minute I heard her sing and dance. Saw her dance. She wasn’t the greatest dancer, but the dance moves she was doing were different than the other dancers that I’ve seen on television. And I said, ‘This girl’s gonna be a star, whether I work with her or not.’ ”

Obviously the two of you became very close.
“Yeah. Yeah.”

How would you describe that?
“Uh, I would describe it as best friends. Deep friends. As far as we both loved music and wanted to be successful. She’s a Capricorn, I’m a Capricorn, my momma a Capricorn, her daddy’s a Capricorn, you know. It was just so much in common with each other.”

And these are difficult questions but would you say you were in love with her?
“Yes. I would say I loved ‘liyah.”

But “in love”?
“Well, there’s a lot of ways to be in love with a person. I was in love with my grandfather, you know. But yeah, I would say I was in love with Aaliyah just like I was in love with anybody else. But in a different, friend type of way.”

And she was in love with you?
“I would think so. Absolutely. I would say that.”

Sure. But let me ask a simple question: Is that you in that video?
“[pause] Because of my lawyers, to this day I cannot have those kind of conversations. Being advised by my lawyers in this.”

Given that a lot of people believe that the video shows you, some of the behaviors on the video have become associated with you, particularly urination as part of sex. Pissing on people. You must have seen that Dave Chappelle skit.
“No, I haven’t.”

He did several clips on his show.
“David Chappelle? [as though trying to place the name] David Chappelle? I don’t…”

Chappelle’s Show. Very famous.
“Okay…comedian?”

Really famous comedian.
“Okay, a comedian. Okay…go on.”

And acting as you, he did a parody of “Ignition (Remix)” called “Piss on You.”
“Mmmm.”

LOL: R. Kelly Walks Out Of HuffPo Live Interview (Video)

Here’s the thing: when the idea came to do a live Q&A session (as in, one where fans and trolls get a chance to ask you questions), R. Kelly should’ve seen the red flag immediately.

Unfortunately, he did not, which leads to the most uncomfortable (and unintentionally hilarious) interview ever — one that ends abruptly when Kels just gets tired of whole “sexing little girls” issue he had in the past.

R. Kelly To Drop Three Albums This Year

R.-Kelly-The-Essential-Album

Spotted on That Grape Juice, fans of R. Kelly will be elated to know that the Chicago R&B legend (and man of infamy) will be releasing both a greatest hits project (The Essential R. Kelly, out May 19th) and a holiday album (12 Nights Of Christmas). This all comes in addition to the previously mentioned sequel to his most recent release Black Panties (titled White Panties).

We should also be looking forward to more episodes of Trapped In The Closet as well. The man is working, no doubt.
