Kendrick Lamar On The Breakfast Club

Kendrick Lamar stopped by The Breakfast Club for “The CoSign.” Kendrick talks about growing up in Compton, CA and wanting to play ball in high school, but was discouraged because he wasn’t tall enough. He discusses meeting Dr. Dre for the first time after Dre heard his song Ignorance Is Bliss on YouTube. He talks about staying out of other peoples beefs and being cool with everyone. He says he’s still independent and is trying to decide what the best situation would be. He discusses meeting J. Cole, who produced “HiiPower,” working in the studio with The RZA, and finishing up his new album Section 80.

The Roots Speak On Their Next Project

It looks like their project will be taking a more orchestral route. Taken from Billboard:
“This is going to be our first full-fledged narrative concept album. It’s going to be a challenge to figure out how to get from point A to B — or in this case, point B to point A and have it seem natural… It’s going to be heavy on sort of orchestral chamber music with harder beats in it.”- ?uest
Black Thought added that conceptually, the album will stem from the “same idea” as How I Got Over, but “kind of flipped. Instead of from dark to light, it’s an album that goes from light to dark”.
