Mac Miller ID Labs Studios Tour

Get More: Music News

Pittsburgh’s ID Labs Studios has housed some of thee great recordings from Wiz Khalifa to Mac Miller. Keeping  his homecoming tour going, Mac invites MTV inside.

â€œThere’s definitely a sound within the people that work out of here,” E. Dan says of his studio and its in-house producers, Big Jerm and Sayez. “It’s hard for me to say what an actual definitive sound of Pittsburgh is; I think it’s probably a combination of a lot of stuff. We’re not in New York; we’re not in L.A.; we’re not in one of the epicenters of hip-hop. I feel like, we’re, if anything, a combination of all that.” Share

Wiz Khalifa Explains O.N.I.F.C. Acronym

If you wondering what Khalifa’s sophomore album’s O.N.I.F.C. stands for, Wiz gives Sway the definition of his second album and how it was inspired by Prodigy’s debut.

â€œIt’s the Only N-Word in First Class,” Wiz said, breaking down the much-speculated acronym when he appeared on “Sway in the Morning” on Shade 45 on Friday (February 3). “It’s inspired by Prodigy’s H.N.I.C. When he dropped that, I felt like that sounded so strong.” There is a clean version of the album, too: One Night in First Class. I was just talking about me being a young rich dude and being black,” Wiz told Shade 45 hosts Sway and Devi Dev about his experience in airports. “It looks crazy to them when I walk up to them and show them my ticket or I’m going in priority seating, They’re like ‘You’re sure?’ “

Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt Is Back

Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt is back. Earl is on his way back home to Los Angeles where he will finish High School. Earl will be placed under the guidance of Leila Steinberg, who is known for guiding Tupac on his path to success. Nine volunteers from AIM (Alternative Intervention Models) flew nearly 5,000 miles to the South Pacific island of Samoa to get Earl and bring him home to LA. This is where Earl’s rap career begins on a major scale, but first he will finish High School.
AIM  made it clear that Earl was not missing or jailed. In Samoa Earl has been sharpening his skills and working with AIM’s rappers, singers, poets, actors, athletes and dancers under Leila’s wing.
Contrary to rumor, Earl hasn’t been “missing”. Remotely for the past year, Earl has been busy sharpening and collaborating in virtually the same way as other AIM rappers, singers, poets, actors, athletes and dancers who have benefited from Leila’s over 25 year legacy of weekly writing workshops held at California spots like PFYC in Santa Monica, LBCC in Long Beach and House of Armour in South Central LA. It was only natural that Earl invited Leila to bring other heART Education artists to have a series of free live AIM workshops in Samoa too.
After three days of flying, including a lay-over in Fiji, amazing AIM alumni like Hope Shorter, Skim Skima, Brah1m Ghavami, Fana Hughes, Sulu Nofoaiga and one of the youngest AIM students, Nyku, are together sharing their artistic gifts with Earl’s peers and local Samoans. Learning a unique rich culture as they explore a slice of Earl’s extraordinary experience at the Coral Reef Academy, the entire Alternative Intervention Models family is deeply honored to be a positive part of Earl Sweatshirt’s journey of maturation, imagination and hip-hop dreams.

J Dilla Freestyle – Clap Your Hands

Next week marks J.Dilla’s 33rd birthday and 5th year anniversary of his death. In honor of his legacy, Bling47 released a never-seen-before clip from Jay Dee yesterday.
I got this one on a cassette from T3 circa 1997. I’m not sure what it was for, or why Dilla had this on tape, but I thought it was hilarious. “Shut the Fuck Up and listen to this… this.” This kind of style was typical for our crew at this time – we were just finishing up the Fantastic Vol 1 album. It was never about what they said – but instead how they said it. We called it “R.A.W.” – Rugged And wild. And that is exactly what this one is – tape hiss and all. Enjoy – Jeedo
