The beauties will be flying the flag for UK fashion designers and donning great British creations from the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen to the sound of David Bowie songs Fashion and Rebel Rebel.

A source told The Mirror: ‘Organisers wanted the best of British – and that’s exactly what they’ve got.

‘The models were all keen to take part because it will be such a memorable event.

‘British style is known around the world for innovation and creativity, so it’s right that it will be celebrated as part of the show – it will look amazing.’

The models, including Lily Cole and Georgia May Jagger will strut their stuff in the closing ceremony in front of millions of viewers

Kate, 38, and Naomi, 42, were part of the original generation of supermodels and lingerie model Rosie, 25, is regularly voted one of the most beautiful women in the world.

The multimillion pound extravaganza, that will take place on Sunday August 12, is titled A Symphony of British Music.

As London hands over the torch to Rio de Janeiro for 2016, the world will see a whole host of stars singing their hits from Annie Lennox to George Michael and Take That to Jessie J and classical composer Edward Elgar to pop star Adele.

Kim Gavin, who masterminded Take That’s successful comeback shows, has been appointed as creative director and choreographer for the ceremony.

He promised an extravaganza involving ‘our most globally successful musicians’ as well as rising stars.

Kim, who also directed the Diana memorial concert in 2007, said it will be ‘the biggest after-show party – the show being the sport.’

He added: ‘We want to create a fabulous emotional experience, something that people will remember for years to come. It will be an elegant mash-up of British music.’

Stars tipped to perform include Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John, with performers receiving just £1 for their appearance.
