Common & J. Period – Clique Freestyle

Our guy J. Period laced us with this live footage of Common going in on one of his legendary freestyles over G.O.O.D. Music’s undeniable “Clique” beat, part of a live 3-song set that took place at UnderArmour’s Kicks N’ Grits event in Houston for All-Star weekend (February 16th & 17th). The other 2 songs were “Go” and “I Used To Love H.E.R.” and the event also featured a DJ set form Talib Kweli but for those of use who were not on the a-list, we’ll have to content ourselves with this fly-on-the-wall view.

MAC Viva Glam was the name of the game, and while they were on the subject, Nicki Minaj spoke on all the plastic surgery rumors:

When people see my makeup they think all types of crazy things that I’m doing to my skin, but it’s makeup. They’ll see contour and they’ll think you had surgery on your nose, no no no, look at RuPaul’s drag race and you’ll see how you can make your nose look any shape you want. I’ve never had surgery on my face, it’s make up people!

Michael Winans Jr. Sentenced To Almost 14 Years In Prison For Ponzi Scheme

From Channel 4 Detroit:

A member of the gospel music Winans family has been sentenced to nearly 14 years in prison for an $8 million financial scam.

Two of Michael Winans Jr.’s victims spoke in Detroit federal court Wednesday, saying the scheme devastated families.

Attorney Hammoud had asked for a sentence within the guidelines, which range from 12 1/2 years to 15 1/2 years in prison.

Winans sold oil bonds to more than 1,000 investors in 2007 and 2008.

He promised 100 percent returns in two months then used the money for personal expenses or to pay off earlier investors. About 600 people are still owed nearly $5 million.

Winans eventually learned the bonds were phony but didn’t tell investors and kept collecting money.

It should also be noted that other Winans family members were supposedly involved in the scheme as well.

Cee-Lo Green Feat. Lauriana Mae – Only You (Video)

Cee-Lo Green’s fourth effort Everybody’s Brother is still a ways away, but to reward you for your patience, he’s given the album’s lead single “Only You” an official video, which you can watch exclusively here.

Like the song itself, the Ethan Lader-directed clip features rising singer Lauriana Mae as Green’s duet partner. The visual shows the two walking around a swirly city that’s folding in on itself, like a less scary Inception. (Maybe Cee could spin Purrfect instead of a top, and see if she ever falls over? Just kidding, PETA! Please don’t call us.)
