Kendrick Lamar Becomes Principal For A Day In Rhode Island

As part of the Get Schooled campaign, Kendrick Lamar acted as principal of Mt. Pleasant High School (who won K-Dot by raising their attendance by 4% as part of a competition) to promote staying in school. Interesting fact: Kendrick Lamar graduated from Centennial High School in Los Angeles with a 4.0 GPA.

He did speak on the matter as well:

“Without education you don’t have anything…my teachers were great positive influences in my life. My middle school English teacher was probably the reason I became a rapper. He used to encourage me to write poetry and would challenge me, which helped me improve my vocabulary and made me enjoy writing.”

UPDATE: Pics Of Kanye West Filming For Anchorman 2 Surface

kww

UPDATE #2: We have better pictures. I think I’m going to stop before I spoil the movie for myself, but there are pics of the other cast online as well. Check out the few we’re posting below.

UPDATE: We have a (really bad quality) photo of what looks like Ye in action. Anchorman: The Legend Continues should be here at the end of the year.

Apparently, Kanye filmed a scene for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues today in Atlanta. More below from Complex:

West was apparently filming in Atlanta alongside Christina Applegate and Paul Rudd while on a rooftop. Their “source” says he was “quite afraid of heights and required an umbrella for shade most of the time he was on the roof.”

Al Sharpton & The Family Of Emmett Till Meet With PepsiCo Over Rappers

al

You know, you can call me insensitive…..but these Black folks are really wasting their time while also giving Al Sharpton that fame he needs to stay relevant.

For whatever reason — because causing these offending rappers to get dropped from their endorsement deals isn’t enough apparently — Emmett Till’s family met with Pepsi, Sharpton in tow, to discuss ways to prevent another issue like Lil’ Wayne’s rap lyric controversy (which had absolutely nothing to do with Pepsi). Also brought up was Tyler, The Creator’s recent goat commercial.

It’s only right for nigger-chasing Al to release a statement on the matter:

“The meeting today with PepsiCo representatives, the family of Emmett Till, and me at corporate headquarters was a positive meeting. PepsiCo apologized to the family again and they accepted while agreeing with me that this is a “teachable moment” and we must work with younger hip-hop artists so they know their civil rights history and become more engaged in the community. National Action Network (NAN) doesn’t want the end result to be the penalization of artists-although they clearly need to be corrected–but rather them becoming more engaged and conscientious of civil rights history. We agreed to work as partners to try and sit down with younger hip-hop artists, corporate executives, and people in the civil rights community.”
