Rakim Lectures At Red Bull Music Academy

If you have an hour to spend, Rakin spits some serious knowledge at Red Bull’s Music Academy:

Hip hop’s golden age began in 1986, the day Rakim stepped to a microphone to record “Eric B Is President.” Only 18 years old (though he sounded considerably more worldly), Rakim (real name William Griffin) had a smooth, effortless flow that brought a cool melodicism and high intelligence to the MC game—he gave both fire and ice, set within the wiry frame of his serious features. Even those who didn’t get the Five Percenter reference wouldn’t have bridled at his nickname, God. His partnership with his DJ, Eric B, yielded four great albums and numerous classic singles before Rakim split for a solo career. Despite initial success with 1997’s The 18th Letter, he endured several frustratingly fruitless years signed to Dr Dre’s Aftermath, working on an album that never came. Now Rakim back in his native New York, the city where his immense influence is most clearly audible, notably in other NYC wordsmiths such as Nas. As recently as 2012, The Source named him the greatest MC of all time.

UPDATE: Mister Cee Addresses His Recent ‘Male Hooker’ Arrest On Hot 97…..AND DENIES EVERYTHING

UPDATE: We now have video.

****************************************

From AllHipHop, where you can read the full write-up:

Over the weekend Mister Cee, a DJ at New York’s Hot 97 radio station, was arrested in Brooklyn for allegedly trying to solicit a prostitute. The prostitute turned out to be an undercover police officer, but according Cee the cop was women and not a man as previously reported.

“I am not gay,” Cee told his co-workers Peter Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds, Ebro, and K Foxx this morning on Hot 97. “I was approached by a female undercover cop.”

Cee went on to say that the original story reported by the New York Daily News cited that the cop was a women, but at some point the news reports changed to say the arresting officer was a man.

When Ebro and Rosenberg pointed out that the area where Cee was arrested in is known for the solicitation of transgender prostitutes Cee said it was just “dumb luck” that he was in that site at the time.

Cee admitted that he does regularly engage in soliciting female prostitutes and paying strippers for sex, but reinforced that he does not seek out men or transvestites.

“I have an addiction to not only prostitution. I have an addiction to getting the quickie,” said Cee.

Mister Cee has also apparently suspended himself because of the matter.

Lil’ Kim Sued For 15 Million Dollars

lil-kim-fashion-week-2013-candid-4

Remember this? From TMZ:

Andrew Ro says his company, International Rock Star Corp, inked a licensing deal with Kim back in August 2012 and planned to roll out a slew of products, including a perfume line, clothing line, vodka drink, energy drink, Steve Madden shoe line and even a honey maker.

Problem is Ro says Kim was a menace to work with and often refused to come to project meetings unless she was being paid extra for her time — making it difficult to get anything off the ground.

Not only that, he says when a project was finally executed — like her perfume — Kim refused to promote the product and then stopped taking their phone calls.

After Kim cut contact, Ro says she fired off a cease and desist letter regarding future projects too … and then filed a lawsuit claiming IRS tricked her into a bad licensing deal.

Ro fired back with his own suit, claiming Lil Kim’s to blame and her antics cost his company $15 million.
