From MTV:

The Atlanta newcomer hit it big last year after he dropped his super-catchy “All Gold Everything” single, but not everyone was a fan initially. “My pops was club hoppin’ back when Rick James was out, and all I get is Trinidad James/ Wait a minute, that’s strange,” Cole rhymes, casting a shadow of doubt on Trinidad before he ultimately concludes: “If the hoes like it, I love it.”

Rappers have been known to feud over less, but not James.

“He was just expressing himself,” he told MTV News on Saturday backstage at Power 106’s Powerhouse concert in Los Angeles. “Just in general if you really step back and listen to the song, he was just spittin’ how he felt and I can’t never be mad at somebody spittin’ how they feel.”

Jim Carrey 623

I thought this story was interesting and worth sharing: Jim Carrey, who is set to appear in the upcoming sequel to 2010’s Kick Ass, has suddenly decided to distance himself from the film due to the recent tragic events at Sandy Hook.

Oprah Winfrey Donates $12 Million To The Smithsonian

From the Washington Post:

Philanthropist and media mogul Oprah Winfrey is donating $12 million to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, officials announced Tuesday. Combined with the $1 million she gave in 2007, it is the museum’s largest donation, and Winfrey’s name will go on a 350-seat theater in recognition. The chairwoman and chief executive of the Oprah Winfrey Network has been a member of the museum’s advisory council since 2004.

“I am so proud of African American history and its contributions to our nation as a whole,” Winfrey said in a statement. “I am deeply appreciative of those who paved the path for me and all who follow in their footsteps. By investing in this museum, I want to help ensure that we both honor and preserve our culture and history, so that the stories of who we are will live on for generations to come.”

The museum’s founding director, Lonnie G. Bunch, says: “Every donation, whether $25 or a $10 million corporate donation, is important. But truly, there’s only one Oprah Winfrey.”

@Elaquent – Believing (Album)

“Elaquent is a beatsmith who creates juicy beats that upholds his own producing name. A lot of his lacings are hip-hop and soul oriented, but you should know by now that any claimed influence these days can be misleading. Believing, showcases his musical ability to adapt and evolve his game. Yes, there are clear signs of hip-hop and soul interspersed within the album, though the organic style he has injected into the album overshadows any doubts of it being yet another mundane, album. This downtempo-esque album also provides a wide range of moods and tone, all the while keeping your mind at bay. Mystique, yet familiar. Blunt, yet majestic.”

Wale Performs At The Best Buy Theatre In NYC

The Gifted is out today.

Page 31 caught Wale’s album release concert for his third album The Gifted at The Best Buy Theatre in NYC. The highlight of the event was likely when DJ Khaled came out for a quick performance of All I Do Is Win, and then introduced what he calls the song of the summer…Clappers. Wale performed this high energy track without Nicki and Juicy J but the house went nuts.
