UPDATE: Chris Brown Charged With Hit-And-Run; Judge Revokes Probation
UPDATE (Fox News):
A judge revoked Chris Brown’s probation on Monday after reviewing the details of an alleged hit-and-run accident involving the singer and his behavior afterward. However, the singer was not ordered to jail.
Brown, who came to court with a group of family members, appeared downcast as he sat with his arms across his chest and his head down on the counsel table while his lawyer and a prosecutor went to the judge’s chambers to discuss the case.
When they emerged, Superior Court Judge James Brandlin said he had read the file.
“In this matter, probation is revoked,” he said.Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, suggested that perhaps the matter will be resolved informally without a major probation hearing. He said the hit-and-run case would be back in court in Van Nuys on July 23.
Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray did not ask for Brown to be jailed, and the judge allowed him to remain free on his own recognizance.
Another hearing is set for Aug. 16.

Above, Chris Brown responds to the charges. Below, from TMZ:
We’ve learned the L.A. City Attorney has filed 2 criminal charges against Brown, in connection with a minor accident last month where Chris rear-ended a Mercedes and allegedly refused to fork over his driver’s license number and gave bogus insurance info and then left the scene.
The City Attorney has charged Chris with hit-and-run — for leaving the scene without exchanging proper information. He’s also been charged with the crime of driving without a valid license. The crimes are punishable by a maximum of 6 months in jail for each offense.
We’ve also learned the City Attorney will refer the matter to the L.A. County D.A. for a possible probation violation in the Rihanna beating case. Worst case scenario — if the judge in that case concludes Chris broke the law and thereby violated his probation, he could be sentenced to prison for 4 years.
Leader of Mexico’s Drug Cartel Captured (Video)
From Fox News:
The notoriously brutal leader of Mexico’s feared Zetas drug cartel was captured in a pickup truck near the border city of Nuevo Laredo Monday, officials said, in what is the first major blow against an organized crime leader by a Mexican administration struggling to drive down persistently high levels of violence.
Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, 40, was also found with $2 million in cash as he was captured by Mexican Marines on a dirt road in the countryside outside of Nuevo Laredo, a city opposite the Texas border which has long served as the Zetas’ base of operations. The truck was halted by a Marine helicopter and Trevino Morales was taken into custody along with a bodyguard and an accountant and eight guns, government spokesman Eduardo Sanchez told reporters.
Sanchez said the Marines had been watching rural roads between the Texas border states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas for signs of Trevino Morales, who is charged with murder, torture, kidnapping and other crimes.
The Zetas leader and his alleged accomplices were flown to Mexico City, where they are expected to eventually be tried in a closed system that usually takes years to prosecute cases, particularly high-profile ones.
“The Drug Enforcement Administration congratulates the Government of Mexico on the arrest of Miguel Trevino Morales,” the DEA said in a statement released Tuesday. “Trevino Morales is of one of the most significant Mexican cartel leaders to be apprehended in several years and DEA will continue to support the Government of Mexico as it forges ahead in disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking organizations.”
Run The Jewels (El-P & Killer Mike) – 36″ Chain (Video); Upcoming Tour Dates
The debut video from El-P & Killer Mike’s new album, Run the Jewels.
Run The Jewels is El-P and Killer Mike, and the 3rd member is arguably Mr. Killums – the deviant rodent-star of El-P’s last 2 videos – who’s kidnapped in the clip below. It’s equal parts Charles Bronson in “Deathwish” and LL Cool J circa “I’m Bad,” as El and Mike brutally (and questionably) fight to rescue their furry, demented companion. Andrew WK, Amber Tamblyn and more partake in this heartwarming tale of friendship, family values and redemption.
Directed by Timothy Saccenti
Produced by GAREN!
