Jacob Banks (@MrJacobBanks) Inks Deal With Atlantic Records

Spotted on The Master Copy:

Jacob Banks shared his delight on Twitter after signing a major deal with Atlantic Records.

The 23-year-old, who is managed by the same company as north London rapper Wretch 32, said he was “so grateful and so happy” about the latest development in his career.

He wrote on the social networking site: “I’m so grateful and so happy not because of record deal per say but to know that people believe in my dream is a joy I can’t comprehend”

The Birmingham-based star later added: “Love my team”.

Dream Koala (@dreamkoala) – Odyssey

Apparently young French producer Dream Koala is considered “chillwave”. I have never known what that type of music was supposed to be, but anyways the 19-year old has been making amazing lo-fi/electro echoey synth indie pop for over a year. Okay maybe “chillwave” sounds better. This latest track sounds more like “post-rock” though.  He describes “Odyssey” like this;

This track is inspired by a dream I had where I died in a plane crash. “Odyssey” comes from the travels of Ulysse – his fear of never coming back home & never reaching his ambitions. It’s a track about deception and the fear of death, the fear of never accomplishing your goals.

SOJA – When We Were Younger (Video)

SOJA is a reggae band from Northern Virginia, and they have recently released their latest visual, a mesh of old footage with shows the group in humble beginnings. The song and clip is also dedicated to member Jacob’s father:

In memory of Williiam Hemphill — “Rest in Peace, Dad. I love you forever and will always remember every word you told me, sacrifice you made for me, and song we wrote. I bear your signature in everything i do.” – Jacob
