Elton John On Miley Cyrus: “I See A Meltdown Waiting To Happen”

In addition to speaking on Miley Cyrus, legendary performer Elton John also gave some pretty blunt opinions on Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga. From The Australian:

“I look at Miley Cyrus and I see a meltdown waiting to happen. And she’s so young! But she’s got two records in the top 20, so who is going to stop her? Maybe it’s a British thing, but I can spot a car crash before it happens. I was in my dressing room in Las Vegas when they announced that Michael Jackson was playing 50 dates at the O2. I turned to my agent and said: ‘He won’t do a single one of those.’ I could tell you he was going to die. He’d been doing drugs for so long, he’d been a mess for so long – and I’ve known Michael since he was 12 or 13 – that it was never going to happen. Everyone was saying it was going to be great and I was saying: ‘Hello? Are you looking at the real thing here?’

“With Gaga – who I love, she’s the godmother to our children – I’d like to be able to talk to her right now, but I can’t get through to her. And there are times when you have to listen. When your persona begins to take over your music and becomes more important, you enter a dangerous place. Once you have people around you who don’t question you, you’re in a dangerous place. When you get famous you get complacent. You stop listening to new things. But my album’s sound reflects the fact that all the things I love at the moment are stripped down. Lorde had a big US hit with a song called Royal. It’s just her voice and a drum machine, and it’s beautiful in its simplicity. It’s the kind of direction Gaga should be going in.”

Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” Sounds Identical to “Locked Out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars

Producer/Soundcloud user Bitman explains why Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven” are virtually the same from a musical standpoint (and mashes the two songs to prove it). Its not that amazing that two pop songs are very similar, but still worth noting.

The songs are both in D minor. Miley Cyrus song “Wrecking Ball” mixed with “Locked Out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars. Same chorus, different applications of triplets in melody in form, otherwise almost identical. No same producers, no crossover between personnel at all (as far as digging on Wikipedia has shown). New Miley album drops Oct 4th with this as one of the main tracks. Bruno Mars’s song came out last October. I see a pattern.

Pop music isn’t really much more than nursery rhymes with adult undertones and studio production. Wisen up, people.

SBTRKT – IMO

SBTRKT dropped a new song today on his twitter page, saying “p.s its not a ‘single’/ planned campaign/ album promo hype thing. just music i want to share.” The track heavily features synths and 808 drums, with a dreamy melody.

Johnny Cinco (@1JohnnyCinco) – TGTWYNM

Street Executives’ artist Johnny Cinco has been making waves around Atlanta with “TGTWYNM” also know as “They Gave the Wrong Ni***a Money”.  The catchy song (produced by Will-A-Fool) dropped last month but most people (me included) just caught up. This track has me thinking the guy will be going places..
