From Fox News:

Days of heavy rain in Colorado caused flash flooding that left at least three people dead and prompted authorities to call on thousands more people in the city of Boulder to evacuate as a nearby creek began rising to dangerous levels.

After a rainy week, up to 8 more inches fell in an area spanning from the Wyoming border south to the foothills west of Denver. Flooding extended all along the Front Range mountains and into some cities, including Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Greeley, Aurora and Boulder.

Boulder County appeared to be hardest hit. Sheriff Joe Pelle said the town of Lyons was completely cut off because of flooded roads, and residents were huddling together on higher ground. Although everyone was believed to be safe, the deluge was expected to continue into Friday.

i am in paris as i release this. every street we drive down makes my eyes pop with the most incredible things carved in stone, and gilded on pillars, and wrought with metal; the heroes and heroines of this city aren’t so hard to find. this song’s are a little more mismatched, less classic courtesans on their pedestals, but nonetheless brilliant. this song is kinda of that world, and at the same time, very much of this one. enjoy. – Lorde

Four Men Who Committed Gang Rape In Delhi Sentenced To Death

Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur and Pawan Gupta were found guilty on all counts earlier this week.

Judge Yogesh Khanna said the case fell in the “rarest of rare category”, rejecting pleas for lighter sentence.

The woman, 23, was attacked on a bus in December and died two weeks later.

On Friday, Judge Khanna said the attack “shocked the collective conscience” of India, and that “courts cannot turn a blind eye” to such crimes.

“This case definitely falls in the rarest of rare categories and warrants the exemplary punishment of death,” he added.

One of the convicted men, Vinay Sharma, broke down in tears as the sentence was announced.

Earlier, protesters outside the court had demanded that the four men must be hanged.

Many civilians were killed in a recent attack (reportedly by the Taliban) on a United States Consulate in western Afghanistan.

Although no Americans were among the dead, the attack certainly sheds light on a continuing security problem and the areas continues to stabilize following U.S.’s entry following the 9/11 attacks over a decade ago.

ISAF has posted a statement regarding the matter on their Facebook page.

From NBC News:

Violence started at around 5:30 a.m. (9 p.m. ET) when a truck drove to the consulate’s front gate, American officials said.

“The attackers — possibly firing rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles — commenced attacking Afghan protective forces on the exterior of the gates and contracted security guards,” State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said in a statement. “Shortly after, the entire truck exploded, extensively damaging the front gate.”

It “appears some attackers were wearing suicide explosive devices,” she added.
