CHRON.com reports:

The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. in the 22300 block of Bridgestone Ridge near FM 2920, said Assistant Chief Deputy Mark Herman of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

Herman said the man told investigators he heard noises in his home and went to investigate. He encountered the 17-year-old boy in his daughter’s bedroom. There was a confrontation and the teen was shot. He died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported. However, Herman said, the father complained of possible panic attacks after the shooting and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Herman said investigators learned the teen was a friend of the daughter’s and she had let the boy into the home. Deputies recovered a handgun at the scene.

Etta Bond Inks Deal With Simon Cowell’s Syco

Etta Bond took to Twitter to announce her new label deal with Syco, a joint venture between Simon Cowell and Sony Music. In addition to a signing pic and some well wishes, it seems as though Miss Bond had to address some naysayers who thinks that she’s going to water down her sound post-deal (above).

We over here wish her nothing but the best, and can’t wait for her first project under Syco.

VIDEO: At Least Two Dead & Many More Injured By Drunk Driver At SXSW

Spotted on the Independent:

At least two people have died and more than 20 injured after a car ploughed through crowds at the South By Southwest music and interactive festival in Austin, Texas.

Police said they were pursuing the vehicle when it crashed through barricades set up for the festival. Officers said that two victims were confirmed dead, while 10 have been taken to hospital, at least five with severe injuries. Around 13 others were also hurt.

The incident occurred at around 12.30am local time in a busy downtown area, when there were crowds of pedestrians on the street.

CNN quoted eyewitnesses saying that a car had sped through the large crowd, throwing some victims into the air and knocking others down. The driver of the car has been arrested, police said.

According to the Austin Police Department, the crash occurred on the corner of East 10th street and Red River. Images from the scene showed the incident happened outside the Mohawk club where, CBC News reported, Californian rapper Tyler the Creator was performing.

At a later press conference held in front of the crash scene, Austin police chief Art Acevedo told reporters police had tried to stop a man in a grey sedan at a petrol station on suspicion of drink-driving.

Memphis Bleek: I Started The JAY Z/Nas Beef (Video)

Memphis Bleek opens up about Jay Z and Nas’ beef, which actually began after Nas released a diss at Memphis Bleek on a DJ Clue mixtape. Bleek then followed up with his hit “Mind Right,” which spurred another response from the Queensbridge rapper, who released a freestyle, naming off Jay Z, Beanie Sigel, and other Roc-A-Fella rappers.

When asked what Nas specifically said about him, Bleek reveals that “he didn’t say nothing about me.” He also explains why he liked Jay Z’s “Takeover” better than Nas’ “Ether,” saying that most of what is said on the album is lies. He ends the conversation by saying that Jay’s track “was the hardest record in hip hop.” – Vlad TV

Yung Jay – Track 2

17-year old Alexandria native Yung Jay is coming up quickly.  “Track 2” is the latest single off of his first project, the Sober Thoughts EP, which is dropping 4/20/14.  This musical endeavor came together after he linked up with one of Alexandria’s brightest, JABB this past summer.  The idea for Sober Thoughts was from a failed piss test and subsequent problems from Jay’s P.O.  He was inspired to tell his own story of growing up, drugged-out nights and the realization that he was rarely sober unless legally required to be. “Track 2” is a great introduction to Jay’s project, just one part a conversation between him and his conscience over a wonderfully strange mixture of beats.  Enjoy “Track 2” and be on the lookout for more soon.
