O.J. Simpson Granted Parole
From ABC News:
O.J. Simpson has been granted parole on some charges stemming from his 2008 kidnapping and armed robbery convictions involving the holdup of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel room.
The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners on Wednesday released an order approving the former NFL star’s parole request.
But the order doesn’t mean Simpson will be leaving Lovelock Correctional Center anytime soon. Because he was convicted on multiple charges, Simpson still faces at least four more years in prison on sentences that were ordered to run consecutively.
Simpson appeared before a two-member parole panel last Thursday to plead for leniency. He expressed regret for his actions and said he’s tried to be a model inmate while behind bars.
Prison officials say he’s had no disciplinary actions against him.
NY Police Officers In Trouble For Hassling Man In Car….Who Turned Out To Be A Police Chief
From NY Daily News:
At least one cop has been disciplined for ordering the NYPD’s highest-ranking uniformed black officer out of his auto while the three-star chief was off-duty and parked in Queens, the Daily News has learned.
“How you can not know or recognize a chief in a department SUV with ID around his neck, I don’t know,” a police source said.
Chief Douglas Zeigler, 60, head of the Community Affairs Bureau, was in his NYPD-issued vehicle near a fire hydrant when two plainclothes cops approached on May 2, sources said.
One officer walked up on each side of the SUV at 57th Ave. and Xenia St. in Corona about 7 p.m. and told the driver to roll down the heavily tinted windows, sources said.
What happened next is in dispute.
In his briefing to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, Zeigler said the two cops, who are white, had no legitimate reason to approach his SUV, ranking sources said.
After they ordered him to get out, one officer did not believe the NYPD identification Zeigler gave him.
The cops gave a different account:When one officer spotted Zeigler’s service weapon through the rolled-down window, he yelled “Gun!” according to sources who have spoken with the officers.
Both cops raised their weapons and ordered the driver out of the car, sources said.
Instead of saying he was an armed member of the NYPD, Zeigler shouted, “Don’t you know who I am?” the sources said.
When one cop reached over to check the identification badge around Zeigler’s neck, the chief pushed him away, sources said.
Only then did Zeigler tell the two officers his name and rank, those sources said.
Zeigler, in his discussions with Kelly, said the officers never yelled “Gun!” sources said.
One cop got into a heated argument with the chief even after seeing the ID, sources said.
That cop was stripped of his gun and badge and placed on modified duty last night, sources said. The status of the second officer was unclear.
The incident occurred as the NYPD is under fire for record numbers of pedestrians being stopped and frisked,
the majority of them black or Hispanic. Some 145,098 people were stopped by the NYPD in the first quarter of this year.Zeigler has headed the Community Affairs Bureau since January 2006. His wife, Neldra Zeigler, is NYPD deputy commissioner for equal employment opportunity.

UPDATE: Vybz Kartel Found Not Guilty On Murder Charge; Has Second Murder Case Pending
UPDATE: Vybz Kartel has issued a statement:
“I had the utmost confidence from the outset as I knew I was being used as a scapegoat as usual because of my image and content and some of my music. Firstly I want to thank my attorneys Tom and Christian Tavares-Finson, my family, my baby mother Shorty and all my fans for their continued support in my trying times.”

From the Jamaica Gleaner:
A Home Circuit Court jury has been directed to rule that dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel is not guilty of the murder of St. Catherine businessman Barrington ‘Bossy’ Burton.
However, Kartel will remain in custody because he has another murder case pending against him.
The jury has also freed Kartel’s two co-accused, Lenburgh McDonald and Nigel Thompson.
Supreme Court judge Bryan Sykes instructed the 12-member jury to return the verdicts after the prosecution informed the court that it had no further evidence against the men.
The stage for the collapse of the case was set yesterday after Justice Sykes turned down an application by the Crown to admit two witness statements in the trial.
He said he was not convinced that the prosecution took enough steps to locate the witnesses.
The three were taken into custody for the 2011 shooting murder of the St Catherine businessman.
Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer is to return to the Home Circuit Court in November for trial in relation to the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams murder case.
Award-Winning Fugees Director Sentenced For Raping, Impregnating Daughters
From the NY Daily News:
An award-winning video director was unmasked Thursday as a brutal, bizarre serial breeder who repeatedly raped his daughters to create a “pure” bloodline.
Aswad Ayinde, who won an MTV award for directing The Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly,” fathered six kids with his daughters from the mid-1980s to 2002 – and delivered the babies himself, New Jersey prosecutors said.
Ayinde, 51, who most recently lived in Paterson, N.J., also had nine kids with his ex-wife, Beverly, and at least three more with two other women in Brooklyn, court records show.
“He said the world was going to end, and it was just going to be him and his offspring and that he was chosen,” Beverly Ayinde testified at a pre-trial hearing.
Also known as Charles McGill, Ayinde faces the first of five trials next month – one for each daughter he allegedly violated, said Lisa Squitieri, the Passaic County prosecutor handling the case.
Ayinde, held on $1 million bond, was hit with 27 charges including aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, lewdness, child endangerment, aggravated criminal sexual contact and criminal sexual contact.
His ex-wife still lives in New Jersey and a reporter found her home filled with small children. She did not return a call.
A young woman who said Ayinde was her father answered the door at the home but refused to talk about the case. “It’s a painful thing. It’s not something we’re going to talk about outside of our family. The truth is coming out now, after a long time. That’s it.”
Several Web sites identified Ayinde as the director of The Fugees’ video. Ex-girlfriend Subhana Rahim, 40, told The News she lived with the rape suspect from 2001 to 2004 and bore him two children.
His arrest prompted a probe by the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services to determine how the suspect allegedly turned his daughters into sex slaves without their knowing.
Some of the crimes allegedly occurred while the family was under scrutiny by the agency – and after the dad admitted to a 2000 attempt to snatch his children from a hospital while the state had temporary custody.
Prosecutors said Ayinde kept the kids from blabbing by beating them with wooden boards or kicking them with steel-toed boots.“I was afraid to ever accuse him of being demented or being a pedophile,” Beverly Ayinde, who married him in 1977, told the court. “I knew the word, but I wouldn’t dare use it because it would result in a beating.”
Ayinde also made a point of moving his family from town to town, even squatting in an abandoned funeral home in East Orange, N.J., investigators said.
Later, he moved to Brooklyn and began passing himself off as an artist, brazenly boasting his now-grown daughters were his wives, Rahim said.
“He was this successful artist who had worked with The Fugees,” Rahim told The News. “I was shocked when he told me they were his daughters and that he’d been sleeping with them.”
In court papers, Rahim said she was eight months pregnant and living with Ayinde in 2002 when she discovered his horrible secret.
“I didn’t try to understand something so ridiculous,” said Rahim, a former lawyer at a top Manhattan law firm.

Nitty Scott, MC – Skippin’ Clouds (Video)
In “Skippin’ Clouds”, Nitty Scott, MC takes on the roles of a depressed 50’s house wife, a 70’s socialite who likes to party, and even a grungy heroin addict as the visual explores drug culture in different eras. The song’s airy high provides the perfect backdrop for a walk down trippy lane, deep in a substance-induced trance as she raps about everything from Bob Marley to vicodin and chakras. Whether taking drugs is about escapism, pure indulgence, or a quest to find deeper meaning, the stories show the duality of drug use and how they can lead to both pleasure and pain.

Drake Cancels The First Day Of OVO Fest Due To Frank Ocean’s Injury
I suppose this is admirable (or maybe he is just cutting his losses), but Drake has decided against replacing Frank Ocean and went with cancelling the first day of his 2 day festival altogether (Ocean was the headlining act for Day 1). We reported recently that the Odd Future singer had to cancel his Australian tour due to an apparent torn vocal chord. Hope he gets well soon.

Buddy is a new artist signed to none other than Pharrell Williams himself, and here is his latest track. ‘Them Draws’ immediately got my attention off of the fact that somebody made a better use of this sample than even DJ Scratch.
