Early 2000’s NY hip hop duo Cannibal Ox, who put out what is generally regarded as one of the best independent albums of that era, are back with a new single, “Gotham” and two b-sides.  The duo and their producer El-P (producer of Killer Mike’s critically acclaimed R.A.P. album last year) split a year after the release of the album Cold Vein, with the duo working on solo projects. One member, Vordul, was apparently homeless for a period of time.  But now the duo is back, fresh off of series of live shows.  The single “Gotham” and the two b-sides are decent tracks, but it appears that Cannibal Ox may never reclaim their former glory.

Diddy To Perform At Wrestlemania 29

STAMFORD, Conn., March 28, 2013 — WWE today announced a partnership with Sean “Diddy” Combs, featuring a live performance at WrestleMania 29® on Sunday, April 7 by the three-time Grammy Award winner and entertainment powerhouse. Combs will also co-host the Superstars for Sandy Relief party with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon as a part of the WrestleMania® Week festivities and serve as an ambassador for WWE’s Be a STAR anti-bullying initiative.

Emanating live from MetLife Stadium, Combs will perform a medley of songs in front of more than 70,000 fans in attendance with millions watching worldwide on pay-per-view. Diddy-Dirty Money’s highest charting single, “Coming Home,” from the acclaimed album Last Train to Paris is an official theme song of WrestleMania 29 and will be integrated throughout the show.

The Superstars for Sandy Relief party, co-hosted by Combs and McMahon with special guest Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg kicks-off WrestleMania® Week on Thursday, April 4 at Cipriani Wall Street. The charitable fundraiser is part of WWE’s efforts to unite the sports and entertainment worlds and provide fans the opportunity to bid on unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. As a part of the online auction, Combs is offering the opportunity to be an intern for a day at his world-renowned entertainment company Bad Boy Records and learn what it takes to manage today’s top artists. All proceeds will benefit The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.

Combs will also serve as an ambassador for Be a STAR, an anti-bullying initiative co-founded by WWE and the Creative Coalition to encourage young people to treat each other with tolerance and respect. In addition, through Combs’ association with the Invisible Bully clothing line, he will continue to encourage individuals to put an end to bullying and contribute to Invisible Bully’s mission to stand for something or fall for anything.

“WrestleMania is one of the biggest spectacles in the world and I’m looking forward to performing in front of millions on April 7,” said Combs. “I’ve always been a fan of WWE and I’m excited to support these two important causes, Superstars for Sandy Relief and the Be a STAR anti-bullying initiative.”

WrestleMania 29 airs live on pay-per-view Sunday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

UPDATE: Too $hort Avoids Felony Drug Charges; Gets Hit With Four Misdemeanors

UPDATE: I guess Too $hort couldn’t get off that easy. TMZ is now reporting that yesterday (Friday), the West Coast rapper was formally charged with four misdemeanors: two counts of DUI, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of marijuana or an open container while driving. Could be worse.

Well….this is interesting. Even after trying to run from the cops (whether he’s telling the truth or not), it looks like Too $hort is going to be off the hook. From TMZ:

We’ve learned … the L.A. County District Attorney has REJECTED the felony drug case, because cops only found a very small amount of drugs — which they say is meth. Given that Short does not have a felony record, the D.A. decided not to prosecute and sent the case over to the L.A. City Attorney for misdemeanor review.

We’re told the City Attorney will look at the case … probably next week.

FYI … Short insists he was not in possession of drugs, and whatever was found in the back of the cop car was left by the prior arrestee who involuntarily hitched a ride to the pokey.

Jay-Z & Beyonce Blasted For Anniversary Trip To Cuba

The below individual is one of many that has recently questioned the Carters’ trip, but it’s probably the best one as far as getting the gist of the opposition. From TMZ:

Mauricio Claver-Carone, the D.C. director for the US-Cuba Democracy PAC — a group committed to fighting for democracy in Cuba — tells TMZ the A-listers should’ve educated themselves about what’s really going on there before taking photo ops.

Jay and Bey were photographed Thursday in Havana — reportedly to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary — but have since come under fire from some Cuban-American groups.

US citizens are still technically banned from traveling to the island purely for tourism … and are supposed to obtain a travel license from the US government.

Mauricio says he’s disappointed the superstars chose to vacay in Cuba because, “There are women getting beaten on a daily basis, women who are being jailed for no reason … people are fighting for their freedom. It’s extremely insensitive.”

Let it be known that they’ve also received support for their trip as well.
