Obviously we all know that Papoose was Saigon’ed as it pertains to the time it took to get The Nacirema Dream on somebody’s shelf, so it’s of no surprise that the material is probably dated to some degree (even if it doesn’t sound like it, which is debatable). On the project is a track called ‘The Cure‘ which featured Erykah Badu, and she took to Twitter to speak on the song…

Word On The Street Is That Justin Timberlake Was Forced To Make ’20/20′ To Satisfy A $20 Million Debt…

DIRECTV Super Saturday Night Featuring Special Guest Justin Timberlake & Co-Hosted By Mark Cuban's AXS TV

It looks like Kanye may have been acting all weird about Jay-Z’s buddy for a reason……first, a little history between JT and entertainment giant Live Nation, taken from the Hollywood Reporter:

In 2008, the concert industry giant entered the business of Timberlake when it acquired Signatures, a leading merchandising company that counts the pop star among its exclusive licenses. Months later, it announced a multiyear agreement to feature 901, the premium tequila brand Timberlake launched, as the official tequila of Live Nation venues.

According to multiple sources, a 2009 partnership with Timberlake, structured after Jay-Z’s game-changing $150 million Live Nation 360 deal and Timberlake’s AEG-promoted, $126 million-grossing 2007 FutureSex/LoveShow tour, was quid pro quo for a touring commitment to Live Nation. In exchange, Timberlake received about $20 million — $5 million of it free and clear, or “a gimme,” as one insider describes it.

Apparently, the issue was that Justin Timberlake then decided to take a hiatus, one that made Live Nation nervous enough that when 2013 came rolling around, Live Nation decided to call in on that loan, requested that the tour be fulfilled. So Justin Timberlake then put together this project with Timbaland in 20 days (so they say), and with this Legends of the Summer tour with Jay-Z about to be in effect, it looks like the debt will be more than satisfied.

@Nas & Funky DL (@FunkyDLHipHop) – Jazzmatic (Mixtape)

jazzmatic-mixtape-1

Funky DL might have outdone himself with this one…

Just imagine if this happened and picture the setting…

It’s the late 1930’s and local jazz club is packed to the brim with people awaiting the rapper Nas and his jazz musicians (orchestrated by Funky DL) along with featured artists to come and play a 10-track set to forever be remembered. The lights are dim and the hall is filled with smoke, whilst the clinking sound of champagne flutes ambiently gesture in the atmosphere. Nas and Funky DL are having their picture taken outside the club in an array of spotlights glaring from their vehicles (see artwork). Then it happens… The two step inside the club and “JAZZMATIC” erupts … All you have to do now is… “press play”…

We’re sure you’ll agree that this is a phenomenal project and ask you to share this with as many hip-hip and good music fans as you can find.

Ghost-Hunting Jean-Michel Basquiat In His Old East Village Apartment

This is dope. Spotted on Hypebeast:

It’s always nice when new information about a late artist is uncovered, and the art world’s fascination with Jean-Michel Basquiat has never waned. Imagine the surprise then, when it was revealed that Alexis Adler, Basquiat’s former partner (“We had multiple boyfriends and girlfriends,” she explains) was sitting on a wealth of never-before-seen artifacts from their time in a New York apartment. Animal New York has an interesting feature on this wealth of pictures, pieces, and other artifacts, as Adler leads us through her unorthodox relationship with the iconic painter.

Sisqo Performs ‘Thong Song’….In A Sports Bar….In Alexandria, VA

Continuing with Sisqo news in the last 24 hours, Dru Hill member and Baltimore, MD native Sisqo brought the house down in the above performance, all while managing to maneuver around bartenders and not knocking patrons drinks over. From TMZ:

We found the R&B star doing his signature song from 2000 in Washington, DC suburb … Alexandria, VA. But not in an arena — a sports bar. A REALLY cramped, small sports bar.

This shit just got upgraded to the ‘LMAO!’ section.
