Choice FM, London’s number one urban station, today launches a search for the UK’s next big thing with Choice BreakthrU, for a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at The O2 Arena to support international rapper Nas as a part of his UK tour in March.

Budding music artists from across the country have until the 14th of February to submit their audition videos to choicefm.com before the entries are whittled down to a shortlist of five by a Choice judging panel of station presenters and industry experts – with a final vetting by Nas himself. From 18th-22nd February, the final five will face a public vote from Choice listeners and the winner – who will be revealed during Choice Breakfast with Kojo & Jade on 25th February – will go on to hit the same stage as Nas.

The winner will be the first act to perform at The O2 Arena in London, followed by Philadelphia emcee Meek Mill and multi Grammy award-nominated rapper Nas on 19th March.

Visiting 8 cities across the UK, Bigga Fish’s ‘Just Talent’ tour will seek out and shine a light on the best up and coming musical talent from around the UK, in association with vInspired and GRM Daily.

Launching the ‘Just Talent’ tour in 2013, the programme will begin in February holding open auditions in 8 cities across the UK; London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Newport, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle and Manchester. The auditions will give young people the chance to showcase their skills to a band of 4 industry judges comprising of booking agents, A&Rs, marketing professionals and a representative from the Bigga Fish street team.

From the open auditions, 10 semi-finalists will be chosen in each city. Through profiles set up for each of them on the ‘Just Talent…’ website, each act will be given a fact sheet on PR and marketing and need to encourage people to vote for them.

These 80 semi-finalists will be invited to return and perform at a showcase event within their city in April, in front of the 4 judges and a small audience. The judges will choose one overall winner per city, taking into account the voting that has taken place prior to the event.

The 8 finalists will be invited to attend a development weekend during May half-term where they will receive vocal coaching, take part in stage presence workshops, and rehearse with a live band. This will prepare them for the Grand Finale in London where the 8 finalists will perform to an audience of 500 people. The top 3 acts chosen by the judges at the Grande Finale will be rewarded with a great selection of industry prizes including studio time, a professional music video, a PR package and song-writing workshops.

The industry judges include: Fiona Ramsay (BMG, Music World, Stoked PR), Michael Lawrence (booking agent — the Hub Entertainment), Shaurav D’Silva (A&R — Universal /3beat Records) and Posty (Co-founder — GRM Daily).
