GLAAD Upset Over Tyler’s VMA Win

GLAAD issued the statement below in regards to the rapper’s 213 anti-gay slurs on his album, Goblin.

“Rather than providing simply a larger platform, MTV and other networks should educate viewers about why anti-gay and misogynistic language has no place in the music industry today,” said Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs at GLAAD. “Given Tyler’s history of such remarks, viewers and potential sponsors should refrain from honoring homophobia and in the future look to a more deserving artist.”

Phonte On Drake’s BMI Award Dedication

In an interview with The Source, Litte Brother’s Phonte reacts to Drake’s thanks during his BMI Songwriter Of The Year Award speech this past weekend. He also touched on Drake’s reluctance to collaborate with him and 9th Wonder.

You’ve always said Drake was your homie, and he stated in the past that he wanted you on his next album. Is that still happening? To my knowledge, it’s not happening. We’ve made contact with each other but all of my attempts to make something real happen have led to a dead end. I saw that he dedicated his BMI award to me and while that was a very noble and thoughtful gesture, I’d much rather he had dedicated himself to finishing a verse for one of me and 9th’s songs. That, to me, seems like a more tangible way of showing gratitude. But with that said, I’m still a fan and I think he’s an incredibly talented artist. When ‘Take Care’ drops, he’s got my money.

T.I. Release Date Remains September 29th

MTV learned today that T.I. will be released from prison on Wednesday, but will report immediately to a halfway house to wrap up the remainder of his sentence. T.I was initially going to be released September 29.Although his drug charges were dropped, T.I. returned to the Forrest City Correctional Facility in AR on November 1 for violating his probation.
Updated: TI’s release date remains on September 29. His attorney tells XXL:

The Bureau of Prisons they won’t give you the information [of his release] until the very last minute. The Bureau of Prisons makes all the decisions once [someone goes] into the federal system then the federal prisons is the governing body as to when he’s released, the judge has no control over it. And you don’t have any real contact with them, they don’t communicate with you and they don’t tell you when exactly he’s gonna be released. They don’t even cooperate with me and tell me much of anything. He’s doing great. He’s certainly looking forward to getting this behind him.”
