Bun B Hosts RedBull EmSee Battle Rap Competition

2010 Highlights

Hosted by Bun B, the tournament will be judged by West Coast rappers Too $hort, Casual of Hieroglyphics and Crooked I of Shady Records crew Slaughterhouse—who will all also perform at the event.

The invitation-only battle series searches for the best freestyle rappers in the country. In a series of challenges designed to weed out the weak, contestants rap over beats and acappella, respond to visual cues and generally showcase their “technique, creativity and dexterity.”

The finals will take place this fall in Atlanta, where the winner will receive the opportunity to record with a top producer of their choice.

After this round, the contest will make stops in Philadelphia, Houston, Boston, Detroit and Miami. The Seattle stop will take place on July 28 at The Crocodile. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit here

Jay-Z Watch The Throne Listening

Last night after leaving the Yankee game Hov held a private listing party while Kanye was in Paris.

According to Billboard, Jay played 11 tracks. Odd Future’s Frank Ocean is featured on two. As of now, there’s no release date for the project.

Hov says it took three stages for the album to be completed. Some records were even scrapped for being too lavish. The recording process stretched over three continents (Australia, NY, LA, Paris) with him and Ye recording entirely together. He prefers not to release a traditional single, but hopes to shoot a video for the Beyonce-featured track, “Lift Off”.

Jay also revealed that he’s already two tracks in for his next solo album. One of them will also feature Frank Ocean.
