Roc-A-Fella Co-Founder Kareem “Biggs†Burke Arrested on Federal Drug Charges
Kareem “Biggs†Burke, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, which launched the career of superstar rapper Jay-Z, was among 43 people arrested today in a massive drug sweep spanning from New York to South Florida, authorities said.
Also nabbed was Matthew Stang, a writer and senior ad rep at High Times magazine, a well-known chronicle of chronic culture.
“In the case of the High Times employee, it’s a case of art imiitiating real life,†said Jim Hayes special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Burke was nabbed early this morning by ICE agents at his home in North Bergen, NJ, Hayes said.
The 18-month investigation into the vast narcotics network – headed by Geovanny “Manny†Rodriguez Perez – resulted in $1 million in seized profits and 177 pounds of marijuana, Hayes said.
At least another seven people are expected to be arrested as a result of the operation, dubbed “Green Venom,†he said. Investigators used state and federal wiretaps to catch the drug smugglers, authorities said.
According to the Post these guys “controlled the marijuana market in NYCâ€. I don’t know how accurate that is, but in any event, Biggs is looking at some pretty hefty legal bills over the next couple of years. Not to be selfish, but I hope this doesn’t cause a drought in the Tri-State…

Lupe Fans Gather For Fiasco Friday
Lupe Fiasco fans are coming together today to celebrate the March 8, 2011 release date of Lasers. Initially the gathering was to protest against the delay of the project. The photos were taken near Central Park, but the mob is expected to bring their show in front of the Atlantic Records.

Jumper’s Mother Thanks T.I.
On Wednesday, Tip rescued a suicidal jumper and spoke on the incident. Yesterday, the jumper’s mother got in touch with Atlanta’s V-103 also denied the encounter was a publicity stunt and thanks T.I. for his assistance.
I wish it was a publicity stunt and my son wasn’t hurting as bad as he is and to get up there and do something like that. It’s an embarrassment really and it’s like my God, thank God for T.I!! So I’m just saying that it’s crazy for people to think that someone would do that as a publicity stunt. It just bothers my mind.
My son was on top of the roof. I was speaking to an officer on the phone. He would not come down while I was on the phone because I was still at work and I need to try and keep my job, okay. That’s part of my son’s problem, he can’t find work in Atlanta and he has other issues/problems. He’s thinking that’s where it ends and that’s when it hit, he didn’t want to live any more.

How y’all gone stand by and let our music turn into pop techno cornball ass music. We don’t own our music no more. Come to think of it, did we EVER own it? when I say own our music , I’m not talkin bout the artist I’m talkin bout the people … let me be quiet. I wanna hear from the young people? easy for me to complain about this techno-pop cause i have a taste for something else. but how do u feel? These rappers ought to be shame of they damn selves, I’m talkin bout the mc’ s rappin over this pop techno music. I believe in pimpin the system but got DAMN! not like this.
#pop-technosongs. I like the idea of no distinction in race when it comes 2 music, but SOULkeepers, U dont give up the boom bip and the hump 4 the payday. I love house and techno as a side dish .But now it’s served as the main course AND that’s ALL u gone get. like chittlins in the back house. I love music PERIOD. just not ready to say goodbye to the boom bip and the hump .. kinda painful for my generation to see. just strange 2me. Yes, no1 wants 2B poor again. artist have2 sacrifice integrity of the music sometimes 2 make ends meet. this is understood.but gotDAMN now. if you’ve never tasted good p*ssy your satisfied with ass hole.
