Diddy’s Nervous About Sound Of Album

Puff’s Last Train To Paris has suffered more than a few derailments. In this week’s issue of NME, Diddy says he’s apprehensive about the amount of singing on the project. As of now, the album is scheduled to pull off in December.
“There’s definitely nerves. It’s nerve-wracking because there’s more singing for me. You have a new concept, and it took people a while to buy into it. I think a lot of times people forget how many hits I’ve had. I take pride in having hit records that still play in clubs now. I take people on a musical journey, and when we bring that up to date it just gets even more intense.”

Nicki Minaj Sets Billboard Record

A few months back, Nicki Minaj scored her first Billboard number one. Now, she has become the first female rapper with the most entries on Billboard’s 100. The seven entries are listed as Nielsen Soundscan’s 200 best-selling songs of 2010 with, so far, a total of 4,298,000 in sales:


The entries consists of her single “Your Love” (755k) as well as her guest features including Luda’s “My Chick Bad” (1,246,000), Lil Wayne’s “Knockout” (519k), Trey Songz’ “Bottoms Up” (518k), Usher’s “Lil Freak” (508k), Sean Kingston’s “Letting Go (Dutty Love)” (377k), and Jay Sean’s “It Ain’t The End” (355k).

Not bad for a rookie. Nicki’s debut album, Pink Friday drops November 23rd.

Busta Rhymes Recalls Battling Jay-Z

We all know Busta attended the same high school with both Jay-Z and B.I.G. in Brooklyn. But during Busta’s MTV RapFix Live session earlier today, Trevor recalls battling a young Shawn Carter in the school’s cafeteria. No sore losers here
One day, somebody came up to me and was like, ‘Yo, Hov is in the cafeteria. They weren’t calling him Hov at the time; they were calling him Jay. ‘Do you want to step to him on some rhyme sh–?’ So I go. At the time, when we were rhyming, it was speed rap. That was the thing to do. I knew how to freak it, and he knew how to freak it. And at the time, he was so ill, ’cause of the people he was with at the time, Jaz-O and them, it was their thing [that style]. He kind of got the best of the situation. I got to give it up. He was so ill and his arsenal was so long that he had more than what I did. I spit my one rap, and my tank was empty real fast. He came with two or three after that, and I was like, ‘Here we go.’ But I gave it my best. That was probably the fist time that I lost a battle that mattered. [Jay-Z] always exemplified greatness as an MC. He was a scientist with it.”
