Celph Titled x Buckwild – Nineteen Ninety Now (Artwork & Tracklistling)

Revisiting the classic SP-1200 and Akai-S950 sound that reigned supreme in Hip-Hop’s “Golden Era,” the beats on Nineteen Ninety Now were originally produced by Buckwild between the years of 1994-1995–but never recorded to. Buckwild fondly recalls what it was like to dig back into those crates “although I’ve stayed ahead of the times as a producer, it was a lot of fun to load up these old disks. Joints I forgot I even had, stuff I haven’t heard in 15-years. It was definitely a welcomed experiment that turned out amazing. Further, he comments on the concept he and Celph embarked on and its possibilities in the future “essentially this is a concept album that’s a first of its kind. I wanted to be able to resurrect a 90’s sound that once was and combine it with 2010 rhymes. I consider this album to be monumental because it could literally not only change the game, but change the way people feel. Dudes complain about the game but they ain’t doing anything. Nobody has done this concept before us. I wouldn’t be surprised if this creates a demand for other MC’s and producers who were around in the 90’s to get together and dig through shoeboxes of floppy disks to feed the fans more of the lost sound they still crave for and I’m all for it.”

The Rap Map: Where Hip-Hop And Google Maps Come Together

I spotted this on Hypebeast and thought it was interesting enough. Of course, naturally, Washington DC isn’t on this site. At least not yet:
Thanks to the power of Google Maps, The Rap Map highlights many landmarks and points of interest regarding the world of Hip-Hop. Points to check out range from the humble beginnings of rappers to spots to restaurants frequented by big-time artists. The Rap Map spans across Hip-Hop hotspots across the United States including the obvious ones in New York City and Los Angeles. Other cities include Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Miami and New Orleans. From The Associated Press: Wyclef Will Fight Exclusion

Hip-hop singer Wyclef Jean says he is not abandoning his presidential bid just yet and will send a lawyer to a Haitian court to appeal a decision rejecting his candidacy.
Speaking to The Associated Press from his home in Croix des Bouquets, Jean says lawyers will go to a Haitian court Monday to appeal with the national electoral dispute office.
Jean told the AP on Sunday that he has a document “which shows everything is correct” and that he and his aides “feel that what is going on here has everything to do with Haitian politics.”
Jean’s candidacy was rejected by the country’s elections board Friday night, presumably because he did not meet residency requirements.

Lupe Fiasco Responds To Mosque Controversy…

…on RollingOut.com. Just a quick excerpt:
I’m taking President Obama’s stance. Everyone has the right to worship where they please, but you do have to question the wisdom of it when you look at the reaction that it caused. I’m Muslim, so I understand the importance of practicing the faith. But that is something that is sensitive to Americans. I don’t trust polls, but there was such an overwhelming sentiment that maybe it’s not the best of idea. I think the people who are building it should take that under consideration. Would they be setting themselves up for vandals? Because now it’s become a target. But on the other side, I think it’s a great opportunity because Islam is in the forefront. This mosque situation is a good chance to spread what Islam is really about.
