DJ Paul Announces ‘Triple 6ix Sinners’ Tour

da-mafia-6ix-tour-flyer

DJ Paul and in newly-formed, renamed Mafia 6ix will be hitting the road at the end of the month, as announced via HipHopDX. Obviously — and unfortunately, although there is hope for change — Juicy J and Project Pat won’t be in the building. You can check out the tour dates for that below; we’ve also included an excerpt of the producer/emcee speaking on his fallen comrade Lord Infamous, and moving forward:

“That’s just the hard part because we never did this before,” DJ Paul says. “It would be great if he could be a part of it, but he is part of it because this group wouldn’t be together if it wasn’t for him. He put the group back together and he left us. I guess he just figured his job was done. Whatever the purpose of that was, I guess we’ll find out. We might already be finding out because people love the mixtape. It’s going to be hard not having him there.”

Prince Announces Unprecedented ‘Hit & Run’ London Tour

prince

Prince and (presumably) 3RDEYEGIRL will be hitting the road next month in London, although in a unique fashion: beginning on February 3rd, the Rock/Soul legend is going to stop an perform at various venues in and around London seemingly at random. On top of that, the “tour” will begin in the living room of none other than Lianne La Havas, who is apparently good friends with Prince. Let the games begin.

EVENT: MTV & Emporio Armani’s Brand New Showcase

mtv-brand-new-2014

Spotted on SBTV:

In association with Emporio Armani Diamonds, MTV UK & Ireland will showcase some of the year’s most exciting new British music talent at the Islington Assembly Hall, London on the nights of January 29th and 30th. The gigs will later be broadcast on MTV Music on February 9th at 9pm as part of a line-up of Brand New programming.

January 29th’s dose of live music will see Katy B take the stage alongside Deeper vocalist Ella Eyre and Bristol’s very own George Ezra, the Crying For No Reason star told press, “I’m so excited to be doing a Brand New session for MTV at The Islington Assembly Hall, I’ll be playing an exclusive set to really make the most of the intimate space.”

A similarly thrilled Ella Eyre said, “being nominated alongside such great new artists was incredible – so I’m really looking forward to bringing my live show to MTV Brand New for 2014.”

BRITs Critics’ Choice Award winner and BBC‘s Sound Of 2014 Sam Smith will take the stage the day after on January 30th, with fellow hotly-tipped London singer/songwriters Joel Compass and Kwabs.

Smith told the music channel, “It’s great to get this recognition, I’ve watched MTV for as long as I can remember and to be part of this with all the people who are up for it is insane. I am a huge fan of some of these people!”

The five new acts taking part in the two-day event are all in the running – alongside BanksElyar FoxRoyal BloodThe Vamps and specially chosen unsigned Acoustic/Soul vocalist Marie Naffah – to be crowned MTV’s Brand New for 2014 act, which will be announced on February 3rd after a public vote.

Fans still have the chance to get behind their favourites before polls close on January 31st by visiting mtv.co.uk/brandnew.

JAY Z To Perform At DirecTV’s Super Bowl Party

jay-z-announced-as-directv-super-bowl-party-headliner

Spotted on Billboard:

Jay Z will headline DirecTV’s Super Saturday Night party during Super Bowl weekend on Saturday, Feb. 1. The invite-only event will take place at DirecTV’s SuperFan Stadium at New York’s Hudson River Park Pier 40, co-hosted by Mark Cuban’s AXS TV and Eli Manning.

In recent years, DirecTV’s Super Bowl Eve party has become the top draw in an increasingly crowded week of pre-game events, with previous headliners like Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Usher. The Jay Z booking follows his surprise appearance during Timberlake’s comeback performance at the 2013 party for the duo’s single “Suit & Tie.” Sources tell Billboard that Beyonce is expected to join her husband on stage for at least one song at the DirecTV party, as hosts of other Super Bowl parties were told both artists were already exclusively booked by another event that week. “Obviously, we would love to have her, but no comment on the rumors,” said a DirecTV spokeswoman.

The Jay Z booking joins an exceptionally popular night of parties on Feb. 1 that already includes Drake’s headlining slot at Revolt TV’s party at the Time Warner Cable Studios in the Meatpacking District, Foo Fighters and Zac Brown Band’s concert for Bud Light’s Main Event Concert at the Bud Light Hotel on Pier 88, Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ top-billed slot at WFAN’s Big Hello to Brooklyn at Barclays Center, Kendrick Lamar’s concert for Maxim’s annual bash at Espace in midtown and Gavin Degraw’s intimate gig for VH1’s Super Bowl Blitz at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, New Jersey. And earlier in the day on Feb. 1, DirecTV will also host its annual daytime Beach Bowl Party, featuring a headlining performance from Paramore.

Billboard has been updating a complete list of all music-related activity during Super Bowl Week in New York City here, with more updates posted in the coming days.
