Manolo Rose – HipHopSince1987 Interview
HHS1987’s E-Money and Rick Dange sat down with rising New York rap star Manolo Rose.
Manolo Rose, the rising talent from New York sat down with HHS1987’s EMoney to talk about an array of topics. The man behind “Run Ricky Run,” “Super Flexin,” and Troy Ave’s “All About The Money” talks about his creative process. He briefly discussed the story behind that “All About The Money” record for those who don’t know. Then he talked about how he comes up with some of the concepts for his records.
He talked about his upcoming ‘Concrete Rose’ album and tour. The album drops on June 2nd and will feature the late Chinx Drugz, Vado, Dave East, Rodwy Rebel (GS9), Problem & more. Following the album is the tour, where Manolo will be hitting damn near every city from July 2nd through August 28th.
He talked about working with other New York City artists, and shares his thoughts on the NYC rap scene. He talked about having worked with Chinx shortly after “All About The Money” was released last year. He talked about being at French Montana’s “Off The Rip” video shoot in NYC when the police shut down the set with a few arrests. He talks about having multiple tracks with Vado as well. When it comes to the NY rap scene he wants the area to stop focusing on one aspect of their rap because NY rap gets categorized as Jay Z, Nas & Biggie. He feels like the DMX, Busta Rhymes, Onyx, MOP, and more have always brought more energy to NY’s rap scene. With that being said he talks about the train of thought that complains about the current state of NY rap. He said the internet made the world flat, so connecting with young producers who only know how to produce that “trap” sounding drum pattern is not his fault.
