Fabolous drops the third installment of his Soul Tape series, just in time for Xmas. Features from Jeezy, Meek, Tiara Thomas, Jadakiss, Jeremih, Ryan Leslie and Mack Wilds. Beats from Boi-1da, Illmind, Araab Muzik and DC’s own Mark Henry, who got multiple placements. Enjoy.
The biological sons of Big Pun, Eazy-E and ODB attempts to build off of their fathers’ fame with some new music. Chris Rivers has already proven himself with some recent collabs, but this track seems……forced.
In related news, AllHipHop is reporting that an ODB documentary that was previously blocked from being released by his family’s estate is now available for online streaming
Mr. Yuuuuuup has a new track (that seems to favor a classic Fugees track — take a listen above), and decided to premier it as a Christmas gift (I guess). Produced by current hitmaker DJ Mustard.
Jae Millz (presumably, didn’t listen to it) does his own spin of Que’s ‘OG Bobby Johnson‘ track. HE also has another mixtape, 1990+, coming soon.
Tetsuo & Youth (and tour) aside, Lupe Fiasco (who is Muslim, but whatevs) decided to drop a holiday gift to the fans in the form of the unreleased track ‘Piru Blues’, which was apparently left on Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album‘s cutting room floor. Produced by DJ Simon Sayz.
Gucci Mane’s album is out today, but before you buy, the currently incarcerated rapper is letting fans have a listen of The State Vs. Radric Davis II: The Caged Bird Sings for free. Just take a listen to the below stream and then make your purchase here; tracklisting was also added below. From AllHipHop:
Gucci exclusively told AllHipHop, ”I was honored to be a part of the The State Vs Radric Davis 2 project. The East Atlanta Santa is in great spirits and looking forward to his X-Mas gift to his fans. Look forward for more releases in the near future.”
DJ Superstar Jay got his hands on this track (it appeared on his latest mixtape release, above) which is apparently going to be her official upcoming single. Can Foxy Brown make a proper comeback at this point?
Bucky Malone wishes us all a “Merry Christma$” with his latest project, L.I.F.E. 2 (The Rise Of Little Tokyo). This project is a good mix of Three-6 and Texas influenced tracks, golden-age beats and compelling vocals that come together to make this style uniquely Bucky’s. As usual, this is a Fa$tlife affair, with appearances from ChrisBeatz, Ceph, SoLo, Chad Geniu$, and skyyHi as well as regulars like TalenTed. Pp and coming VA artists G-Star Giorgio and Sour Gang Mafia also make appearances. Check out Bucky Malone’s latest because with his talents he’s going nowhere but up!
Over one hundred tracks from the Based God on one mixtape. No further comment your honor…stream, tracklist and download link below.
Rozay game-talks (there was no legit rapping this go ’round) over A$AP Ferg’s ‘Work’ instrumental. Mastermind is coming soon.
Looks like that obvious sample that Kanye snatched for the best song on Yeezus (and the worst video from Yeezus) wasn’t authorized, and the source of the sample is crying foul. From TMZ:
The guy behind the lawsuit is Ricky Spicer — an ex-member of the ’70s soul group, “Ponderosa Twins Plus One” … which recorded a song called “Bound” back in 1970.
Spicer, who was 12 years old when he laid down the track, says he recently heard Kanye’s new hit on the radio and IMMEDIATELY recognized his old work.
Problem is … Spicer says he never granted Kanye (or anyone affiliated with Kanye) permission to use his voice … so on Monday, he filed a lawsuit in Manhattan.
Ricky is suing the rapper’s labels for allegedly stealing his vocals … and is demanding West stop using the song and pay him an unspecified amount of money.
Just listen to the song … the Ponderosa Twins’ ditty is clearly the main sample on “Bound 2” — and Kanye’s title suggests his version is a sequel to the original.
But this ain’t Kanye’s first rodeo when it comes to sampling music (see: Stronger, Gold Digger, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, etc.) … and it’s unlikely he would just jack the tune without trying to obtain the rights.
No surprises here. The song might be the beginning of something more, too: is it possible that we’ll be seeing a full length project from the two in 2014*?
*Given the failures of T-Wayne & I Can’t Feel My Face, don’t bet on it.
Finally, we get to hear the new project from The QuaranTeam’s Loudmouth Melvin & Pyro Barz, an 18-track sonic wave titled The LP Sessions. K-Nite 13 and Mentalist — and others — also make an appearance. Stream, tracklisting and download link is below.
