Oh man, have I been sleeping on this Maryland-based producer for a while. b.east just dropped another album a few days ago and its filled with jazzy and funky beats, vocal snippets and hard-hitting drums. I don’t know if I’m the first to make comparisons to fellow area producer Oddisee but regardless, one thing that makes these two some similar is you can hear some soul in their music, not just repetition. You can Stream Beast Chronicles Vol. 3 below. If you like it, please buy it, 7 dollars (or more if you like) isn’t that much to help support local music.
808 Mafia – 808 Mafia II Mixtape
808 Mafia, the super-production team originally founded by Southside and Lex Luger, is back with their second mixtape. Luger appears to have left the team, with Southside bringing in a variety of new producers who have already begun making waves in the industry with various interpretations of the booming “Trap” movement. Listening to the Intro track gives a brief rundown of tracks that have been produced by 808 Mafia members, providing beats for the likes of Waka Flocka, Future, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill, Soulja Boy Pusha T, and Wiz Khalifa (just to name a few). Mostly an instrumental mixtape, standouts include a beat sampling Madonna (Fuse-Drowning Angels) and the groups take on dance music (808 Mafia-Studio 51). Stream and download below via Live Mixtapes.

Recently we’ve caught wind of up and coming artist Nominee, an artist hailing from Ohio (now living and making moves in California). A well-rounded artist (in his words, “Justin Timberlake and Drake meet John Mayer’), he was signed to Starrunner Records and is pretty much hitting the ground running, so to speak.
