An Orange County, Fla., boy is lucky to be alive after he shot himself in the legs with a .45 caliber handgun registered to his mother on Tuesday night.
WFTV identified the boy as 2-year-old Michael Garcia, Jr., and reported that no charges have been filed.
According to WESH, the 2-year-old suffered “single gunshot wounds” to both of his legs, but that the injuries were not life-threatening.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies told the station that the gun had been left unsecured in a bedroom. Two adults were home at the time of the shooting, but neither appeared to have been watching the boy. Deputies said the shooting appeared to be accidental.
According to WFTV, the Florida Department of Children and Families is also investigating.
“I’m trying to figure out how a 2-year-old pulled the trigger on a .45,” neighbor Andre Demos told the station.
Incidents involving young children and guns often prove fatal. Earlier this year a 4-year-old Kentucky boy fatally shot his sister with his grandfather’s .38 caliber handgun.

Bruce, 64, is legally entitled to a major chunk of the Kardashian empire’s earnings, and RadarOnline.com is reporting that the Jenners’ potential divorce could prove to be one of the priciest in Hollywood history.
“This is going to be a very bitter pill for Kris to swallow because when they divorce is finalized, she’ll have to split half the family fortune with Bruce,” a source with knowledge of the situation revealed to Radar.
When Kris and Bruce first married in 1991, Bruce was bringing home the bacon, lavishing Kris with the fancy lifestyle she wanted. Since then — more specifically, since the launch of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, as well as the family’s subsequent products and endorsements — Kris has become the wealthier half of the couple.
Ironically, the site notes, Kris forced daughters Kim and Khloe Kardashian to get prenups before marrying Kris Humphries and Lamar Odom, respectively. (And we both know how well those marriages ended up!)
Though Kris says she and Bruce have no plans to divorce right now, not having a prenup will make the process infinitely more difficult, should they decide to move forward.
The head coach of Georgetown’s women’s basketball team, Keith Brown resigned today, after it was alleged that he frequently verbally abused his players… More via ABC7
(WJLA) – Georgetown head women’s basketball coach Keith Brown resigned Thursday, the school announced, amid allegations that he has consistently verbally abused his players over the past several seasons.
Brown’s resignation comes after ABC7 obtained audio of the second-year head coach belittling and cursing out players who crossed him as recently as early last month, sources say, as part of what several current and former players call a pattern of verbal abuse.
In audio recordings provided to ABC7 News, Brown can be heard shouting profanities at unidentified players on several occasions. Both of the recordings were taken after a Sept. 6 workout at Georgetown, and in one, he’s heard telling a potentially injured player that she was a “dumb f***.”
Both Brown, the team’s second year head coach, and assistant coach Tim Valentine were placed on administrative leave Oct. 1 amid allegations that he verbally abused his players. Sources say that targets of Brown’s abuse have been left “broken and demoralized” over their treatment.
Valentine was never accused of verbally abusing players and has returned to the team, the university says.

After the Sept. 6 workout, sources say that Brown decided to confront his players about their tendency to get along on the court but not off the court, during which he launched into a profanity-laced tirade.
Kanye West’s song ‘Gone’ featuring Cam’ron and Consequence (which is taken from his 2005 album Late Registration) debuted on the Billboard 100 at #18 this week after writer and comedian Marina Shifrin used the song to let her boss know she was quitting her job. She had this below to say about the video:

An NYPD undercover detective has now been arrested in connection with an attack on a family in an SUV by a group of motorcyclists, reports CBS News’ John Miller.
The officer is expected to be charged with criminal mischief for allegedly banging on and breaking the rear window of the SUV. The detective waited four days before coming forward to the NYPD and he allegedly made false statements about his involvement, reports Miller.
The AP identified the officer as Wojciech Braszczok, and said he turned himself in to face riot and criminal mischief charges. He was expected to make a court appearance Wednesday.
Also Tuesday, police arrested Clint Caldwell on gang assault and other charges Tuesday. He’s the sixth person arrested following the September melee, including Braszczok.
In other news, there is new video of a road rage attack in New York City in which several men appear to be kicking the driver of an SUV while he laid on the ground. Police say Alexian Lien was pulled out of his vehicle. Another man is seen stepping in to stop the assault.
A fourth suspect has been charged in the incident. And now, the man who shot the original video sparking the outrage is breaking his silence.
Leave it to JT to continue his assault on the charts; after almost selling a million copies of The 20/20 Experience in the first week (it’s the highest selling album of the year, by the way), Justin Timberlake has returned with Part 2 Of 2, which enters the charts at #1 with a still-very-impressive 348,000 units sold.

Kris and Bruce Jenner have separated.
The couple issued a statement saying, “We are living separately and we are much happier this way.”
Sources connected with the family tell TMZ … Bruce has been living in Malibu full-time and spending a lot of time with his sons Brody and Brandon. Kris is firmly planted in Calabasas with her daughters.
We’re told Bruce has privately told his sons living away from Kris was just the way the relationship evolved.
In their statement, they say they will continue to have love and respect for each other.
It’s unclear how the split will impact their reality show.

After a 5-year battle with various forms of cancer, Philip Chevron of the Pogues has passed away. The 56-year old guitarist and sometimes unofficial spokesman of the legendary Irish punk band passed away peacefully this morning, only months after his last public appearance at a benefit concert for his own medical bills.

A “monster truck” spun out of control and mowed down spectators at an event in northern Mexico, killing at least eight people, including four children, officials said.
Video of the incident at the Extremo Aeroshow in Chihuahua, Mexico, shows a massive red truck running over an obstacle on a dirt course and then swerving into the crowd as audience members scream.
The driver told authorities he passed out after hitting his head, a state prosecutor’s spokesman said.
State Gov. Cesar Duarte told reporters Sunday that it was possible the truck’s driver drank alcohol before Saturday’s deadly crash.
Blood tests were conducted and prosecutors will determine who was responsible, Duarte said.
The crash injured dozens of people, Duarte said. On Sunday, 28 of them remained hospitalized — 12 of whom were in critical condition.
The city’s mayor, Marco Quezada Martinez, told the state-run Notimex news agency that he has ordered an investigation.
CNN has not been able to reach a lawyer representing the truck’s driver.
Officials said the Extremo Aeroshow was suspended after the incident.
According to the event’s website, the show included aerobatics, skydiving, hot air ballooning, motorcycles, fireworks and monster trucks.

Here’s the plan. Kylie, Twist and Christian will become the centerpiece of the 24-hour music channel, called Revolt — it’s kind of old school MTV. They’ll do promos, appear on the various shows and build up hype with social media.
