Gunmen Open Fire On Mother’s Day Parade In New Orleans

At least 12 people in New Orleans were injured on Sunday when multiple gunmen opened fire on a Mother’s Day parade, police said.

One of the victims was a 10-year-old girl who was grazed by a bullet and is in good condition, police said. Another person sustained an injury as parade members ran from the gun fire.

None of the injuries are expected to be fatal.

Authorities saw three people running away from the scene after the shooting. At least one suspect was described as a man between ages of 18 and 22.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said there may have been as many as three shooters, and that two different types of weapons were likely used.

The victims were marching in what is known as a second line parade, common in New Orleans: A brass band plays while marching in the streets, while a “second line” of people follows the band, celebrating.

Serpas said the parade was just a few blocks long.

“These are unusual circumstances. We have second lines which occur in the city of New Orleans virtually every weekend at this time of the year,” said Serpas. “We had a full complement of police officers. It appears that these 2 or 3 people just for a reason unknown to us, started shooting at towards, or in the crowd. It was over in just a couple seconds.”

 

Update. Gunmen opened fire on dozens of people marching in a neighborhood Mother’s Day parade in New Orleans on Sunday, wounding at least 19 people, police said.

You know, you can call me insensitive…..but these Black folks are really wasting their time while also giving Al Sharpton that fame he needs to stay relevant.

For whatever reason — because causing these offending rappers to get dropped from their endorsement deals isn’t enough apparently — Emmett Till’s family met with Pepsi, Sharpton in tow, to discuss ways to prevent another issue like Lil’ Wayne’s rap lyric controversy (which had absolutely nothing to do with Pepsi). Also brought up was Tyler, The Creator’s recent goat commercial.

It’s only right for nigger-chasing Al to release a statement on the matter:

“The meeting today with PepsiCo representatives, the family of Emmett Till, and me at corporate headquarters was a positive meeting. PepsiCo apologized to the family again and they accepted while agreeing with me that this is a “teachable moment” and we must work with younger hip-hop artists so they know their civil rights history and become more engaged in the community. National Action Network (NAN) doesn’t want the end result to be the penalization of artists-although they clearly need to be corrected–but rather them becoming more engaged and conscientious of civil rights history. We agreed to work as partners to try and sit down with younger hip-hop artists, corporate executives, and people in the civil rights community.”

According to ABC News, law enforcement officials have shockingly (but not so shockingly) tied Boston Bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to a triple murder in 2011. Click below to find out the details of this horrific story that seems to just be getting worse and worse….

Tamerlan’s former roommate, Brandon Mess, was murdered along with two other men in Mess’ apartment in Waltham, Massachusetts in 2011. Police officials released a statement saying that “the victims were found with their throats slashed and their bodies covered in seven pounds of Marijuana.” Apparently, law enforcement officials stated that some crime scene forensic evidence matches to both Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The Ohio attorney general says tests have confirmed that alleged kidnapper Ariel Castro is the father of a 6-year-old girl rescued from his house with three women this week. Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office confirmed Castro’s paternity in a news release Friday. DeWine says a sample of Castro’s DNA was taken Thursday and forensic scientists worked through the night on the case.

Randy Jackson Announces His Exit From American Idol

The one remaining original judge of American Idol is finally saying goodbye after 12 seasons. From Fox News:

Randy Jackson, the lone remaining original “American Idol” judge, won’t be returning to the Fox talent competition next season.

“Idol” host Ryan Seacrest only hinted at Jackson’s impending departure at the beginning of Thursday’s elimination episode.

“A little later on, we’ll be revealing who’s leaving our show,” joked Seacrest as he swiveled Jackson around in his chair toward him. “Maybe a head’s up?”

Apparently, Seacrest — who’s been with the show as long as Jackson — found out along with the rest of the world Thursday when the 56-year-old producer and bassist announced his departure.

Jackson said in a statement that he’s leaving “Idol” to focus on his record label and other business opportunities.

“To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on `American Idol,’ I have decided to leave after this season,” he said. “I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry.”

Jackson has served as a judge on all 12 seasons of “Idol.” He first appeared on the panel alongside Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul when the competition debuted in 2002, becoming famous for his easygoing “yo, dawg” rapport with contestants.

Hawkers are even selling Charles Ramsey T-shirts.

Angel Cordero, however, has not received the limelight that Ramsey has for his own work in the rescue operation of three women held captive in a Cleveland home for over a decade.

“I helped her and I was first,” Cordero told a local Cleveland new station in Spanish. “Ramsey arrived after she was outside with the girl…But the truth who arrived there, who crossed the street, who came and broke the door, it was me.”

Lauryn Hill Writes Thank You Letter To Supporters In Tax Case; Blames Slavery For Judgement

As you may have heard by now, Lauryn Hill was sentences to three months in prison for tax evasion. Despite the bad news, she has written a thank you letter to those who supported her during the ordeal, specifically individuals (including Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys) who wrote letters to the judge in her favor. In related news, as a result of her judgement, Lauryn Hill has taken to blaming slavery for the outcome, which has cause the judge to order her to undergo counseling (from IB Times):

During her trial, Hill was ordered by the judge in Newark, New Jersey to undergo counselling because of her conspiracy theories – including that artists are being oppressed by a plot involving the military and media.

Hill claimed she is still forced to live under the pernicious economic hierarchy imposed by the slave trade.

She told the court: “I am a child of former slaves who had a system imposed on them. I had an economic system imposed on me.”

He uses these names to get women, have sports agents give him money and run up huge tabs at the club. He’s been arrested for all of this but it doesn’t stop him from pretending. He has been putting up these charades since 2009 at least and he’s still going strong. Now he says he is a boxer on Floyd Mayweather’s money team.

The Amsterdam News has learned, and the U.S. Embasy has confirmed, that Malcolm Shabazz, son of Malcolm X, was killed on early Thursday morning, May 9, 2013. He reportedly died from injuries sustained after he was thrown off a building as he was being robbed in Tijuana. “I’m confirming, per US Embassy, on behalf of family, the tragic death of Malcolm Shabazz, grandson of Malcolm X.Statement frm family 2 come,” wrote close friend of the Shabazz family Terrie M. Williams on twitter. RELATED: Malcolm X’s Grandson Reported Arrested En Route To Iran Early reports said he was shot and information is still coming in. Malcolm Shabazz is survived by his three year old daughter, Ilyasah, his mother, Qubilah, and his closest aunt Ilyasah among others. Malcolm Shabazz plead guilty and was found guilty of manslaughter and arson and was sentenced to 18 months in Juvenile detention. His stay was extended and he was released four years later. Years later, he told the Amsterdam News that he had not set the fire. Malcolm Shabazz was in the process of writing two books, at least one of which was a manuscript. He was attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.

Charles Ramsey Says He Became a “Better Person” After Domestic Violence Problems

After multiple media sources recently uncovered Charles Ramsey’s past with domestic violence arrests, the Cleveland hero claimed he’s not ashamed of his past and that his former problems have made him a better person. More from the NY Daily News:

The gutsy dishwasher — who’s become an Internet sensation thanks to his animated interviews — was convicted of domestic violence three times from 1997 to 2003, according to an arrest report obtained by The Smoking Gun. The assaults were related to his then-wife Rochelle, who told the website that he also failed to pay child support for their now-15-year-old daughter.

Ramsey said he shouldn’t be pilloried for his past.

“If I had so much hatred for women, I would have minded my own business this week and walked away instead of risking my life to save someone else,” he said.

In August 1998, after his prior domestic violence cases were consolidated, Ramsey was ordered to six months in jail, five years probation and counseling.

But in January 2003, Ramsey was arrested again for domestic violence — indicted as a felony crime because of his prior convictions.

While the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Ramsey sat in state prison, his wife filed for divorce after eight years of marriage.

It’s unclear whether she knew of Ramsey’s sketchy past in the early 90s, including for drug abuse, criminal trespassing and receiving stolen property , according to The Smoking Gun.

Rochelle, however, said Ramsey apologized for assaulting her, and she’s on “an OK basis” with him. Ramsey also said he’s “made amends.”

Still, he never paid his $51-a-month child support, Rochelle added, and his relationship with their daughter remains icy.

 

Ramsey spoke to TMZ on his criminal history, saying;

“I’ve made amends with the people involved and we’ve all moved on and grown up.”

Ramsey adds, “Those incidents helped me become the man I am today and are the reason why I try to help the community as much as I can … Including those women.”

“If I had so much hatred for women, I would have minded my own business this week and walked away instead of risking my life to save someone else.”
