JT took to Twitter/Instagram to let the folks know that his next project, for now being called The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2) will be dropping September 30th. If you recall, ?uestlove pretty much spilled the beans on this already.
Araab used his Instagram page to speak to concerned fans and provide a hospital bed photo of himself.
“#Recorvering. I would like to thank everybody that wished me well, I appreciate all the love from all over the world!! #MVPOFTHEMPC,” he wrote May 4th. (AraabMuzik’s Instagram)
The near-death story caught the attention of various hip-hop artists like Def Jam’s Fabolous.
“Heard some bad news about my bro @araabMUZIK, he’s a incredible talent. Let’s all wish him a fast recovery!!,” Fab tweeted over the weekend. (Fabolous’ Twitter)
Fellow Brooklyn, New York rapper Joell Ortiz acknowledged the producer’s situation.
“@araabMUZIK Healthy and speedy recovery my brother!!” (Joell Ortiz’s Twitter)
Details behind the shooting surfaced across the Internet heading into the weekend.
AraabMuzik is recovering after he was shot earlier this week in an attempted robbery. His manager, DukeDaGod, posted an Instagram photo of the producer and MPC virtuoso in the hospital surrounded by a crew of his friends. “Everyone wish my brother @araabmuzik a healthy & pleasant recovery!!!! #Mvpofthempc #Soblessed,” reads the post. Rapper Avatar Darko shed more light on the situation on Twitter. “My lil brodi too trill! They tried to rob him and he ain’t come up off his shit so they tried get him outta there!” he wrote. An Araab representative stepped forward with a statement on what went down a few days ago.
“Rumors have begun to circulate and first and foremost, we want to let everyone know that AraabMUZIK is currently alive and well,” AraabMUZIK’s camp said in a statement. “He was out in his neighborhood last night with friends and unfortunately the victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is recovering now and police are investigating the crime. We appreciate all the concern and fan support and Araab is looking forward to a speedy recovery and returning to the stage as soon as he can.” (Billboard)
Andrew Ro says his company, International Rock Star Corp, inked a licensing deal with Kim back in August 2012 and planned to roll out a slew of products, including a perfume line, clothing line, vodka drink, energy drink, Steve Madden shoe line and even a honey maker.
Problem is Ro says Kim was a menace to work with and often refused to come to project meetings unless she was being paid extra for her time — making it difficult to get anything off the ground.
Not only that, he says when a project was finally executed — like her perfume — Kim refused to promote the product and then stopped taking their phone calls.
After Kim cut contact, Ro says she fired off a cease and desist letter regarding future projects too … and then filed a lawsuit claiming IRS tricked her into a bad licensing deal.
Ro fired back with his own suit, claiming Lil Kim’s to blame and her antics cost his company $15 million.
I don’t see her on the top ten list yet, but she’s definitely on the website. From Rolling Stone:
Tupac Shakur’s godmother [or step-aunt] has been placed on the FBI’s Most-Wanted Terrorists list, becoming the first woman added to the list and only the second domestic terrorist. Joanne Chesimard, now known as Assata Shakur, was convicted in 1977 of the murder of 34-year-old state trooper Werner Foerster on the New Jersey Turnpike. After her conviction, she escaped prison in 1979 and fled to Cuba.
The FBI says it added Chesimard, 66, to the list because she is “a supreme terror against the government” who continues to advocate revolution and terrorism against the U.S. “She’s a danger to the American government,” said Aaron T. Ford, agent in charge of the F.B.I.’s Newark division, according to The New York Times. Chesimard was a member of the Black Panther Party, which was monitored by the FBI with both legal and illegal surveillance in the Sixties and Seventies.
And now, the million dollar question: does Assata Shakur really deserve to be on this list?

According to the NY Post, Hot 97′s Mister Cee was arrested in Brooklyn yesterday for patronizing a prostitute. Back in 2011, Cee plead guilty to engaging in a sex act with a male hooker.
This recently went down in London: a shopkeeper somehow manage to fend off an armed robber using a wooden stool. Not the smartest move in the world but it could’ve been worse.
UPDATE: Above is a 20-something minute video that Dr. Watkins made explaining his stance (which had changed somewhat, after some thought) on Tyler, The Creater and the Mountain Dew controversy that he created.
I guess people are claiming that it’s racist, which… you know, that wasn’t even portrayed in that commercial, there’s no type of hate being portrayed in that work of art at all — which I’m confused by. But this older black dude, Dr. Boyce Watkins, I guess he found it racist because I was portraying stereotypes, which is ridiculous because, one, all of those dudes [in the line-up] are my friends. Two, they’re all basically in their own clothes. It was originally supposed to be just two dudes, but Garrett from Trash Talk came with his friend and other people had showed up, so I just put all of them in that line-up, if you really wanna know the truth. Three, no [commenters] saw that commercial and said, this is racist. Everyone either said, “Wow, this is ridiculous, it’s a goat talking,” or they said, “Wow, this is the dumbest, why would they even make this?” So for [Watkins] to nitpick and notice that, clearly shows his state of mind is on some other sh– that I can’t comprehend, for him to actually sit there and for him to notice that it’s all blacks [in the lineup]. That wasn’t my intention.
It was crazy. It’s a black guy making this, and if it’s so racist and feeding into stereotypes, why in the first commercial that goes along with it, is there a black male with his Asian wife? In the second commercial, it’s a black male with a professional job as a police officer listening to hardcore rock music — which supposedly the stereotype is that black people don’t listen to that. The stereotypes are what I’m confused on, no one was even thinking about that. I was focused on that first zoom shot over their shoulders. That’s what I was stoked on. You know why? Cause I like film, and I like directing, and that’s where my heart was set. I wasn’t thinking, “Oh, let’s use all black [people]” or whatever. I wanted to use my friends. You know why? ‘Cause I don’t like using other actors. You can look at every one of my videos, and my friends are always in it. Saying that I’m racist — every video I got, Lucas is in it! He’s a little scrawny white kid. So what is this dude talking about?
Bad news for Wayne: even after suffering from a seizure earlier this week, Mountain Dew has cut ties with the rapper.
The move stems from the controversy surrounding Weezy’s Emmett Till reference on “Karate Chop (Remix)”. In a statement, Mountain Dew’s parent company PepsiCo said:
“offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand.”
UPDATE #2: Kitty Pryde says that Danny Brown was actually raped.
I will also say that whoever wrote on Reddit that Danny was “walking around the stage getting girls to grab his dick” is 100% false, and to blame someone for their own molestation is a shitty thing to do. Anybody who is exaggerating this tale to climax is also a lying fool, and to call it a blow job is even going a bit far because it was probably the fastest thing I’ve ever seen. “The Thing” was not a thing that Danny facilitated—it was an actual sexual assault, and somehow nobody gives a fuck about that but me.

Oh, you thought you were gonna find a video of what happened here? Negative….but if we find one, we’ll definitely link you guys to it.

The rapper and music mogul attended a meeting Thursday on Long Island, where the media was briefed on four proposals to renovate the arena and surrounding property.
Nassau County officials have been trying to come up with a plan to redevelop the 40-year-old arena for many years. The New York Islanders are its primary tenant, and they are moving to Brooklyn in 2015.
Jay-Z’s Roc Nation is part of a group that built the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn and is bidding for the Long Island project.
He took photos with Nassau County officials but did not speak during the 30-minute presentation.
American thrash metal guitarist Jeff Hanneman, a member of the seminal heavy metal band Slayer, has died aged 49 from liver failure in Southern California.
Hanneman, who wrote songs “Raining Blood” and “Angel of Death”, had spent most of 2011 battling a flesh-eating disease contracted after he was bitten by a spider.
His death yesterday morning was confirmed in a statement on the band’s Facebook page: “Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11am this morning near his Southern California home.”
“Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure.”
Hanneman’s life changed considerably after he was bitten by a spider three years ago. An open letter published on the band’s website in 2011 described the devastating physical impact the bite had on him.
It said: “As you know, Jeff was bitten by a spider more than a year ago, but what you may not have known was that for a couple of days after he went to the ER, things were touch-and-go. There was talk that he might have to have his arm amputated, and we didn’t know if he was going to pull through at all.”
“He was in a medically-induced coma for a few days and had several operations to remove the dead and dying tissue from his arm. So, understand, he was in really, really bad shape. It’s been about a year since he got out of the hospital, and since then, he had to learn to walk again, he’s had several painful skin grafts, he’s been in rehab doing exercises to regain the strength in his arm; but best of all, he’s been playing guitar.”
Producer araabMUZIK was shot late last night in an attempted robbery in Rhode Island. Duke Da God posted a pic on his Instagram of araab in the hospital to confirm he’s alive and recovering. His rep tells Billboard:
Rumors have begun to circulate and first and foremost, we want to let everyone know that AraabMUZIK is currently alive and well,” AraabMUZIK’s camp said in a statement. “He was out in his neighborhood last night with friends and unfortunately the victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is recovering now and police are investigating the crime. We appreciate all the concern and fan support and Araab is looking forward to a speedy recovery and returning to the stage as soon as he can.
Rapper Gucci Mane has just been released from jail in Georgia after spending nearly three weeks behind bars, TMZ has learned.
As we reported, Gucci was arrested April 13th for a probation violation. He’s been in jail since.
Gucci’s attorney, Drew Findling, tells us, the probation violation was triggered by a March 25th incident at an Atlanta nightclub … when Gucci allegedly bottled a clubgoer in the head, causing a massive gash.
Gucci was charged with aggravated assault in connection with the incident. That case is still pending.
Twerking continues to take the world by storm. From 7 San Diego (by way of World Star Hip Hop):
“Dozens of San Diego area high school students have been suspended and banned from prom or commencement because of a twerking video according to one parent. The video, created recently by students in a media class at Scripps Ranch High School, shows teenaged girls twerking while doing handstands to a YG song. Thirty-two students danced and one student used school property to videotape the group outside class during 6th period.”
We recently posted that the cause of his death may have been a drug overdose. In addition to the above headline, Chris ‘Mac Daddy’ Kelly also called into Atlanta’s Streetz Morning Grind radio shortly before his death, and you can listen to that above. From TMZ:
According to the [police] report, paramedics initially responded to Kelly’s Atlanta home around 3 PM EST — after his mother called 911 asking for medical assistance.
When help arrived, paramedics found 34-year-old Kelly lying on the living room couch — unresponsive and with “no life signs.” The medics attempted to revive Kelly, to no avail.
Kelly was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
After the death, cops spoke with Donna Kelly Pratt — Chris’ mother — who told police … the night before Kelly’s medical emergency, he had taken a mixture of heroin and cocaine — commonly known as “speedballs.”
Donna told police she had personally taken Kelly home to recover from the drug use … just as she had done several times before. Donna told cops Kelly had felt nauseous all morning before passing out.
According to the report, Kelly’s mother and Kelly’s uncle both told investigators the rapper had an “extensive history of drug use.”
Jermaine Dupri also recently wrote a letter to the fans regarding Kelly’s death.
YMCMB was recently in Beverly Hills to shoot the visual for Birdman & his Rich Gang’s ‘Tap Out‘, and some dope photographer (Derick G?) got some pics of what went down. Check those out below.
