During SXSW, Yahoo announced their first international music festival with Hova and King Kendrick as headliners. Titled Yahoo! On The Road, the 21-stop trek begins May 3rd in New York with additional appearances from J. Cole, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as well as Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean and Trey Songz (for the London shows July 9th-14th). Check dates below.
We spoke on this before, but Jay-Z is partnering with film director Baz Luhrmann to executive produce and record music for his film The Great Gatsby. According to Reuters, Jay will blend contemporary music with Hip-Hop for its soundtrack. The F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel hits theaters May 10th. Jay-Z had this to say below:
“As soon as I spoke with Baz and Leonardo, I knew this was the right project. The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one`s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion. It`s ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist. The imagination Baz brought to `Moulin Rouge` made it a masterpiece, and `Romeo + Juliet`s` score wasn`t just in the background; the music became a character. This film`s vision and direction has all the makings of an epic experience.”
We posted a visual earlier that was released in celebration of this, but Chief Keef has finally been released from detention. Let’s hope that he takes better care of his move making from this point on. From Chicago Tribune:
South Side rapper Chief Keef walked out of the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center in a red diamond-studded coat this afternoon after completing his 60-day sentence for violating his probation for a gun conviction.
About two dozen family members and supporters greeted him on his exit, handing him his baby. An uncle carried a garbage bag full of notebooks – possible rap lyrics Chief Keef had written while locked up.
He declined comment before being driven off from the West Side facility.

In an interview with Radio.com, Cappadonna confirmed that the Wu will be reuniting to record a 20th anniversary album sometime soon:
“We’ve been texting each other. We’re definitely concentrating on more positivity and teachings and trying to put that back into the original recipe for this next Wu-Tang album.”

We just got word that Lil Wayne has been rushed to the hospital. Our source says the Young Money general has suffered from yet another seizure. Although few details have emerged, his condition has said to be serious.
If you remember Lil Wayne was taking seizure medication following his mid-air medical emergency last year — when he suffered seizure-like episodes on two back-to-back flights.

Justin Bieber has decided to pen an open letter to the media from his Instagram, addressing some problems he had with the press as of late. Maybe he could use a couple tokes of that Mary Jane more than we thought:
Everyone in my team has been telling me, “keep the press happy” but I’m tired of all the countless lies in the press right now. Saying I’m going to rehab and how my family is disappointed in me. My family is beyond proud, and nothing’s been said by them, my grandparents wouldn’t know how to reach to press even of they did want to so that was a lie and rehab cmon. if Anyone believes i need rehab thats their own stupidity lol I’m 19 with 5 number one albums, 19 and I’ve seen the whole world. 19 and I’ve accomplished more than I could’ve ever dreamed of, i’m 19 and it must be scary to some people to think that this is just the beginning. Continuing with his extremely aggressive promo campaign for The 20/20 Experience (in stores March 19th), Justin Timberlake will now have a concert special of the channel that everyone kind of forgot about. From L.A. Times:
The network that’s home to eternally youthful vampires and a chiseled bowman will air the music special titled “Target Presents the IHeartRadio Album Release Party With Justin Timberlake” (breathe here) on March 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (an encore will air March 22).
The special will feature the 32-year-old pop star discussing the making of his long-anticipated new album “20/20 Experience” — a preview of which is already making the rounds on iTunes — along with performances filmed during the release party at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. O, and an eight-minute music video, will be thrown in for good measure.
UPDATE: M.I.A. has been hit with a restraining order preventing her from leaving Brooklyn with her son. From NYP:
Rapper M.I.A has been banned by a court from taking her and Benjamin Bronfman’s son out of Brooklyn, where they live separately following their split last year. Sources exclusively tell Page Six that Bronfman, the son of music mogul and Seagram’s heir Edgar Bronfman Jr., got a restraining order in Kings County Court after M.I.A allegedly threatened to take their son Ikhyd, 4, to her native London. A source tells us, “M.I.A has been texting and calling Ben, saying she will take their son to London, even though they both live in Brooklyn and the child goes to school there.” The source added, “Ben filed a motion for a temporary restraining order preventing her from taking their son to the UK against his wishes.” The court granted Bronfman’s petition, and M.I.A was served with the legal paperwork last night.
I don’t know the disconnect that’s led to this, but apparently M.I.A. is entering into a fight with her baby’s daddy over her own son. She gave birth to baby Ikhyd with Benjamin Bronfman in 2009. Story developing…
No clue on when the project will be released, but the artwork is already locked and loaded, and it speaks volumes.

First Boston, and now Baltimore: unfortunately, Rihanna has had to cancel Tuesday’s leg of her world tour. It was previously stated that the cause was laryngitis, and now they’re adding the flu.
Her next scheduled stop is in Philadelphia.
We reported earlier about some pictures that the grossly self-deformed Queen Bee wasn’t happy about, and Wendy Williams spoke on the same thing (above). Lil’ Kim has since responded through Twitter, claiming that Wendy Williams actually had an ‘encounter’ of sorts with the late Biggie Smalls:

“House of Wallace,” presented by Ossian Media, will star Biggie’s two children — 16-year-old C.J. Wallace and 19-year-old T’yanna Wallace — as they work to save their father’s recording studio in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, from corporate doom.
In the animated series, Biggie himself will make brief appearances as a ghost who helps to inspire the kids and keep them motivated on their quest to preserve a true piece of hip-hop culture. With his guidance they hatch up the brilliant plan to make the studio a “jingle house by day” — allowing artists to lend their star power to big brands — while still allowing it to remain as a powerhouse for musical creativity by night.
“It’s been 16 years since our Dad was murdered and we miss him dearly. It is such an honor for us to be able to carry on his legacy, not only through his music but also by channeling him through our own creativity,” C.J. and T’yanna explained in a press release. “This project, ‘House Of Wallace,’ is a great opportunity for us to bridge the gap between our parents, who loved his music, and the kids and young adults our ages that were not around to really appreciate it.”
C.J. and T’yanna will voice their own characters on the show and they’ll have plenty of guest appearances from talented artists who will create original songs for the program. And, of course, expect some of Biggie’s classic hits to get an updated spin on the animated series.
One Woman Army is due June 4th (unless it gets pushed back into obscurity).
As reported by Telegraph:
HMV collapsed into administration in January and more than 100 stores are set to be closed.
Restructuring specialist Hilco has bought HMV’s debt and is in pole position to acquire the retailer, however, Asda could now launch a late bid to try to take control of HMV.
Asda is understood to have held talks with Deloitte, the administrators to HMV, about a deal and is interested in buying the brand and business, rather than simply converting the stores into convenience food shops.
When HMV collapsed into administration, the company had 223 UK sites and employed 4,123 staff. However, Deloitte is closing more than 100 locations and plans to leave the retailer with a “residual portfolio” of 116 stores.
The 92-year-old music chain fell into administration in January after seeing its sales eroded by competition from online music retailers, digital downloads and supermarkets.
