ODD FUTURE x QUBIC STORE / NEW ZEALAND EXCLUSIVE

ODD FUTURE x QUBIC STORE / NEW ZEALAND OFWGKTA fans will no doubt be aware of the controversy that surrounded the announcement of their upcoming first appearance in New Zealand.
After being booted rather abruptly from the (now evidently final) BDO12 Auckland line-up, they’ve been relegated to play a side show instead at Auckland’s Powerstation venue on Thursday 19/01/12. To commemorate this momentous achievement, we had Tyler the Creator design a special limited run print tee; exclusively for Qubic Store and their New Zealand gig to express the general feeling over the debacle.
Releasing on Wednesday 18th January 2012 at Qubic Store in limited quantities. Please stay updated on Qubic Store’s facebook or twitter for up to the minute details on release time.

Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius Pushes Back WZRD Album

So we not getting the album on January 30 but we will now be getting two tracks on iTunes. Dot Da Genius log on  to his Twitter to reveal his collaborative Rock album with CuDi will now drop on February 28.
Hey Guys, WZRD Update. Me and Cudi have been working on our debut album and it’s almost near completion. We are in the final stages of mastering but we really had to take time and pay attention to the sonics as this is new territory for us.

With that being said, we have decided to change the release date. We are looking roughly at Feb 28th. Y’all know how Cudi is’ and I’m the same way. Everything has to be in place and now it is. I know it’s late notice, we were trying to keep the date but got wrapped up making this album perfect for y’all.

However for making you guys wait a little longer we will release ‘Brake‘ & ‘Teleport 2 Me‘ on iTunes on the previously said date. AS WELL AS ‘DOSE OF DOPENESS’. Hopefully that will hold you guys over until the album drops!

Obama Says No To SOPA

This is certainly a win for bloggers like us. Spotted on Bob’s House of Video Games (of all places):

In a coup for people who enjoy the Internet, the Obama administration has thrown its considerable weight into the debate over the Stop Online Piracy Act, and its congressional sibling, the Protect IP Act.

This morning, a post on the White House’s blog denounced the censorship inherent in the bills, and warned against their potentially devastating effects on the infrastructure of the web.

“We must avoid creating new cybersecurity risks or disrupting the underlying architecture of the Internet,” Victoria Espinel, Aneesh Chopra and Howard Schmidt wrote in the post.

House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa also announced this morning that the House of Representatives will wait to vote on SOPA until a consensus is reached, calling the bill “fundamentally flawed.”

This could be the last nail in the coffin for SOPA, a bill that’s meant to curb online piracy but that could also break the Internet as we know it.

The news comes a day after SOPA author, Rep. Lamar Smith, removed the incendiary DNS blocking provision from the bill.

PETA Sends Letter To Dr. Dre

Dr. Dre’s headphones has pissed the people at PETA off.  Dr Dre’s Beats By Dre, recently collaborated with fashion house, Oscar De La Renta on a limited edition line. Each headset is adorned with silver fox fur. Shortly after, PETA learned of the design and sent Dre the letter below.

Dear Dre,

I hope this message finds you well. As you may know, PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 3 million members and supporters dedicated to the protection of animals. You have many fans here.

We’re writing today after reading about your new fox-fur headphones design with Oscar de la Renta. We wanted to get in touch to urge you to keep fur and exotic-animal skins out of your Beats by Dre designs. Foxes, minks, rabbits, and other animals—including cats and dogs—are bludgeoned, genitally electrocuted, strangled with wire nooses, drowned, and even skinned alive for their pelts. Most animals killed for their fur are slaughtered in China, where there are no penalties for those who abuse animals on fur farms.

Please take a moment to view this short video on the fur trade, hosted by actor Eva Mendes.

With so many fashionable, cruelty-free materials available these days, we hope that you will keep animals in mind and choose not to use fur or exotic skins in your collection. You’d be joining designers such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Bouwer, and Vivienne Westwood, who have banned fur from their designs.

You have a tremendous amount of influence on young people—won’t you please consider using your platform to advocate kindness toward animals by pledging never to design with real fur and exotic skins?

Thank you so much for your time and attention. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 323-210-2204 or MichelleC@peta.org.

With kind regards,

Michelle Cho
