T.I. Confirms Album Title & Next Single

T.I. stopped by Billboard to  preview a few tracks off his new album. After deciding between two titles for his next album, Tip confirms the title, Trouble Man and discusses his new track dropping in the next few days.

“A lot of times I’m taking myself out of my element, ” Tip continued to say of “Trouble Man.” “This is the first project where I’m talking about things that I’ve experienced before that I’m not necessarily experiencing now cause I’m not doing a whole lot of partying. I do a little bit but not a lot… nothing like when I was in that life. I have this one record [titled] ‘Pyro’ that I’m proud of,” T.I. told Billboard.com’s The Juice. “‘Pyro’ is a straight party record. It’s nostalgic of those crazy nights, early mornings [but] just turned up.” “Pyro” will come after the release of T.I.’s two singles, “I’m Flexin’,” featuring Big K.R.I.T. and “Hear Ye’ Hear Ye’,” feat. Pharrell Williams.

DMX & Ex-Wife Will Check Into VH1’s Relationship Rehab

These ‘Rehab’ shows are getting ridiculous (they’re probably also getting Dr. Drew a lot of money). From TMZ:

The troubled rapper and his estranged wife Tashera Simmons have agreed to appear on the upcoming reality show in the hopes of getting their failed marriage back on track, a source close to production tells us.

The Simmons separated in July 2010 after 20 years and four kids together … yet they are still best friends, insists the source – and that’s why they want to give it another shot.

We’re told DMX feels Tashera is “one of the only people [he] truly ever loved and has been down with him through thick and thin.”

The thin? DMX cheated on his wife left and right – and even fathered six children during his extra-marital conquests.

“Relationship Rehab,” a spin-off of “Celebrity Rehab,” is scheduled to begin taping in December. A rep for the rapper had no comment.

Yo! MTV Raps To Return …For One Night Only

Above – Yo! MTV Raps: Top 10 Episodes. — MTV Shows

From MTV:

On December 4, MTV2 will herald the return of one of the most beloved franchises in MTV history, “Yo! MTV Raps.”

The show, which originally aired from 1988 to 1995, was the first major hip-hop program on a network, and it helped rap videos blow up globally as it gave some of the biggest stars of the day a forum to talk about their music with hosts Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover and Dr. Dre.

The 30-minute retrospective, entitled, “Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts,” will air just after the first annual Sucker Free Awards, which premiere at 11 p.m. on December 4. The show’s original hosts will be on hand to discuss some of the clips that aired on the program, including interviews with the masterminds behind three of the all-time “Yo!” classics: A Tribe Called Quest’s “Scenario,” Geto Boys’ “My Mind’s Playing Tricks on Me” and Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day.”

“It’s a great moment to be reconnected with ‘Yo!’ and examine the music that had a role in introducing hip-hop to music lovers globally,” former co-host Ed Lover said. “By looking back at these classic songs in hip-hop it becomes clear that hip-hop would inevitably transcend distance and generations.”

Among the artists viewers will hear from on the special are: Q-Tip, Scarface, Ice Cube, Wiz Khalifa, DJ Khaled, Questlove, Busta Rhymes, Mac Miller, Machine Gun Kelly, Young Jeezy, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Phife, Fat Joe, Common, Mike Epps, Ice-T, Meek Mill, Tyga and Naughty by Nature. As a bonus, DJ Premier will also be in the house to remix the iconic “Yo!” theme song.

“In this Classic Cuts special, people will go back to a seminal time in hip-hop, which many have called the ‘Golden Era,’ resulting in records that are as meaningful today as they were back then,” said original host and hip-hip pioneer Fab 5 Freddy. “In order to appreciate how far hip-hop has come, you have to pay respect to the songs and artists that helped catapult the genre from a small community of fans to world domination.”

The “Yo!” special will also cap a monthlong celebration of hip-hop that will culminate with the Sucker Free Awards hosted by MTV’s Sway Calloway.

Eminem & Yelawolf Cover VIBE

Eminem & Yelawolf will be on the cover of VIBE for the last issue of the year. Issue hits newsstands on December 6, but below is excerpts of their interview with Erik Parker below.

Eminem, what advice do you offer, if any, on being scrutinized for being a white rapper. Do you guys ever talk about race in that way? Eminem: We make jokes about it, but I don’t think we talk about it in depth. As I was listening to his music, I am not even thinking about any of that shit. It’s just the music. That’s one of the things that’s great about it. I’m not even thinking about it when I hear the music. Yelawolf: We do poke fun of it because it’s funny. Like, he calls me White Dog. Oh, you called him that on the BET Awards Cypher. I didn’t realize it was an ongoing joke? EM: Yeah, or Beige Sheep. [Laughs] YW: Cracker Nuts. Whatever, I think it’s kinda unspoken. EM: We deal with it enough as it is. So now, let’s make music. YW: Let’s make great records. At the end of the day, that’s all there is to do.

Drake Challenges Wayne To Sound Clash

Drake told Billboard that he wants to have a release concert in Jamaica and battle Lil Wayne song for song.

â€œI don’t want to just do an album release concert. So, me, I go to Jamaica a lot — I love Jamaican culture — so what I’m gonna do, I’m challenging Lil Wayne to a sound clash, that’s what I want to do. I don’t want to just perform by myself,” he told us. “So I want Wayne to come out on stage with a mic and I’m gonna have a mic, and we’re gonna have both our DJs, and we’re gonna battle song-for-song and see who the people love more. And that’s how it’s gonna go.” “That’s something that I’m serious about, he’s serious about it too. I already issued the challenge,” he said. “He’s serious about it, he accepted like, “Man, I’m ready. I’m gonna eat your food.” I’m like, “Aiight, we’ll see.”

Family Members Remember Heavy D

Heavy D passed last week, family members of Heavy D have issued a statement to AHH on the rapper and family man’s passing. Statement after the jump.

Hev had great love for his family and friends; he was a kind and giving spirit who extended and shared himself with everyone who crossed his path. He had a heart of gold, was approachable, very personable and gave of himself willingly and unconditionally. Though Hev will most notably be remembered for his work both behind-the-scenes and in the forefront, he will always be remembered by us as a generous soul who remained humble and unselfish till his final days.Out of all Hev’s successes and accomplishments, in his eyes, his most important triumph was that of becoming a father. Hev’s love for his daughter Xea was profound–she was the center of his life, his heart, his soul. He often said “I cannot live without her and that she embodied every phenomenal attribute that he brought to this world.” The name and the success of Heavy D will always be synonymous with music forever. He never compromised his values and artistry, and encouraged his peers to do the same. To us, Hev was the one who made us laugh, cry, sing, dance and turn a frown upside down. As a family, we are devastated by Hev’s passing but through our faith in God and support from family, friends and fans-we are comforted, blessed and will remain strong. His “bear hugs” are going to be deeply missed.
