While Everyone Wanted To Know About Jay-Z’s Lil’ Wayne Comment…

Get More: Music News

….he was actually throwing a carnival-themed fundraiser (called Making The Ordinary Extraordinary) at New York’s Pier 54 for his Shawn Carter Foundation. With the help of Alex Rodriguez, C.C. Sabathia, Questlove, Beyonce and more (the tickets priced at $1,000 each also helped I’m sure), the event was able to raise $1 million to help fund college scholarships for underprivileged kids.

Ricky Parker Speaks On Diddy Situation

This is the last time I report on the matter, but I wasn’t aware that it was actually Studio43’s own Ricky Parker (and not Kenny Burns) that was on the direct receiving end of Diddy’s Ciroc rant. He recently spoke to TMZ about the matter….Diddy has since apologized.
TMZ spoke to the man on the receiving end of the slurs, Ricky Parker, who tells us he felt “humiliated and disrespected” by Diddy … and claims he will no longer support the hip hop icon.

Parker tells us he couldn’t believe that Diddy would attack him so ferociously, simply because he was drinking Grey Goose vodka that night and NOT Ciroc vodka, which Diddy serves as a spokesperson for.

Parker tells us, “You won’t ever hear me support him from this moment forward.”

New Jay-Z Decoded Version Coming Soon

One year after Jay-Z’s Decoded hit bookshelves, the New York Times bestselling book will be re-released on November 1. Featured in a new expanded paperback edition, the re-release will contain a new chapter, seven additional illustrations, three decoded songs: “I Know”, “Young Gz”, “Lost One” and a new afterword.

What still excites me about rap is that it’s an open thread, a cipher that listeners find their own meanings in. The point of this book is not to settle arguments or transform rap songs into neat stories with a beginning, middle, and end. Rather, I’m trying to point readers to some ideas and information, get them to see deeper into the music than they saw before and learn more about worlds different from their own (or find new ways of looking at the worlds they already know)—to find their own meanings and connect them back to their own lives. I want readers to see the craft and learn the context—and I want them to still be able to feel the magic, and enjoy the show. —JAY-Z, from the new Afterword

The Kanye West Spring 2012 Collection (High Snobiety)

About 30 minutes ago the first official Kanye West Fashion Show ended, being part of the official Paris Fashion Week schedule. Lots of rumors were circling around for months about the existence of the line, who West was working with for the collection and how it will actually look like.

The first surprise to many was the news, that it would be a women’s collection. As such, we will also leave a judgement of the looks to the pros. All we can say at this point, is that the amount of ‘important’ people from the fashion and entertainment industries that showed up to see the fashion show was rather impressive. From Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Terry Richardson, Lindsay Lohan, the Olsen twins, Jessica Michault, Dsquared 2 designers Dean and Dan and the list just goes on. All major fashion magazine editors (Vogue, The Love Magazine, Vogue Homme, etc) were also attending the show. Among the models you could find Chanel Iman and all shoes of the show were designed and produced by Guiseppe Zanotti, which is another impressive move by Kanye. We all know that the high fashion crowd will be a hard one to please, especially from an outsider.

We will not even try to judge Kanye’s attempt at fashion design and will leave you with these images to make up your own mind. We do respect though, that he gave it a shot and cannot wait to see what the next step in Kanye’s fashion career will be.
Many more images from the Kanye West Spring 2012 Womenswear Collection can be seen at High Snobiety.

Kanye West To Finally Debut Rumored Women’s Fashion Line

From Materialiste (though in an entirely different language):
After weeks of speculation, Kanye West’s rumored women’s fashion line has been confirmed to debut October 1, 2011 in tandem with Paris Fashion Week. It is reported that a select one hundred individuals from around the world will be invited to preview the 2012 spring/summer ready-to-wear collection, which was made evident by a simplistic black and white invitation merely inscribed with details pertaining to the time and location, accommodations by Karla Otto fashion PR, and more intriguingly the initials Dw. Perhaps an homage to the rapper’s late mother, Donda West? Stay tuned for more updates as impending details unfold.

Waka Flocka Knocks Out Former Associate At Chuck E. Cheese

The official press release of the event that took place above is after the jump.

Tonight event, attended by hip hop artists, producers and industry execs and supported by two other celebrity foundations and corporate sponsors, was an incredible gift to the community. That is until the community imploded on itself. Shortly after Deb Antney, CEO of Mizay Entertainment announced that her company would donate ten homes to single and grandparent headed households, shared the microphone with fellow Philanthropist and entertainment mogul Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and a round of applause was given to her son Waka Flocka for pledging to donate $50 per strike during the evenings festivities, chaos was abound.

To be clear, while taking one of many photos with a fan during the evening, an artist who had previously been under his helm approached him with malice, words were said and our client was forced to defend himself. The aftermath, though dramatic, left no one seriously injured and saw the majority of the crowd dispersed without incident.

After working with security to ensure that all parties had safely departed the property, one of my Sr. Partners- Lola Sims and I had the occasion to talk with (Ludacris’ mom) who noted that when the craziness began, she asked security “if there was a gun”. When they assured her that there were no weapons involved. She instructed her team to keep on playing and let the security do their jobs.” She laughed with us as she told us that we had better be sure to note that “The Luda Foundation was victorious, beating both Rah Rah’s Village of Hope and Toya Wright’s Visual Beauty with an impressive TEN STRIKES!)”

Seriously, fights happen especially when big celebrities making themselves accessible to their fans. It sucks that this happened but let’s not let it overshadow its purpose. It was and still is about the community.

I am so pissed I was late and didn’t get to cover the event like I wanted too. Waka and his fam made it very clear to me that he does not support violence and that it was sad people turned what was a great night to nigga sh*t, is so uncool. Wake hope yo head up. It still was a great event and a night I will never forget. P.S. yall had to see his mama babieeee!!!! She don’t play, I love a boss!!! LOL Here are all the pic’s.

Lil Wayne Covers VIBE

Lil Wayne hits the cover of the October/November issue of VIBE. Below are excerpts of his cover story.

VIBE: You say competition is for the “old guys,” but it sounds like you’re going at Jay-Z with that line, “I got your baby money/Kidnap your bitch, get that how-much-you-love-your-lady money.” Are we looking at it the wrong way?
LIL WAYNE: I know for a fact, music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. If I know that for a fact, I can never be upset about someone’s reaction to it. I’m not gonna say I don’t know what will happen before I say it [on record]. I do know what will happen. I am aware of it. It is what it is.
VIBE: You mentioned how humbled you were at the success of “She Will.” Drake, who wrote and performs the song’s chorus, has now become a platinum star in his own right. Do you look at the guy and say, “Wow, I helped create a monster, I have to stay on my toes”?
LIL WAYNE: I don’t look at it like that. Drake is my artist. If he wasn’t my artist, then yeah maybe. But that’s my artist. He’s not [just] a friend. We’re more than friends. It’s business. It would be impossible for it to be a competition. I mean, I’m the guy’s boss.

Mobb Deep Black Cocaine EP Cover

Hits Stores Black Friday.
“The cover art for the Black Cocaine EP was an idea I came up with then passed over to the [Sony] RED art department. They brought my thoughts to life,” Prodigy told MTV News. “Havoc and I laughed the other day about how hustlers are gonna try to make real black cocaine when they see the cover and hear the music.”

Tyrese Kicked Out Of Delaware Radio Station….

…..for speaking out against liquor stores that are close to elementary schools. Exactly. From TMZ:

Tyrese claims he was WRONGLY kicked out of a radio station in Delaware yesterday — and it’s all because he TOOK A STAND against liquor stores that operate near elementary schools.

It all happened at WJKS KISS 101.7 in Delaware — when Tyrese, who was invited on the show to promote his album, made a PASSIONATE statement about how liquor stores SHOULD NOT be allowed near schools … after seeing one on his way to the station.

During his rant, Tyrese told the DJ, “Get them cats out of here … selling alcohol right across from your kids school, homie — put the pressure on them homie … you know how to put pressure on dudes selling in your hood.”

But when the show went to commercial, Tyrese was asked to leave the building — and the owner of the radio station confirms to TMZ that it was because he felt Tyrese was “disrespecting” the Delaware community.

After the incident, Tyrese tweeted, “I just kicked out of a radio station frm a [program director] who had a problem w/ me speaking on liquor stores that are by elementary schools in Delaware.”

He later added, “If you don’t STAND for something.. You will damn near fall for Anything.”

Jimmy Henchman Facing Gun Charges

Back in June, Jimmy plead not guilty in Brooklyn court shortly after he was apprehended by feds while on the run for cocaine conspiracy charges. Rosemond is currently at a NY detention center awaiting trial.

50 Cent Playground Book Cover

50 Cent’s Book hits stores November 1st.
Thirteen-year-old Butterball doesn’t have much going for him. He’s teased mercilessly about his weight. He hates the Long Island suburb his mom moved them to and wishes he still lived with his dad in the city. And now he’s stuck talking to a totally out-of-touch therapist named Liz. Liz tries to uncover what happened that day on the playground – a day that landed one kid in the hospital and Butterball in detention. Butterball refuses to let her in on the truth, and while he evades her questions, he takes readers on a journey through the moments that made him into the playground bully he is today. This devastating yet ultimately redemptive story is told in voice-driven prose and accented with drawings and photographs, making it a natural successor to The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. Loosely inspired by 50 Cent’s own adolescence, and written with his fourteen-year-old son in mind, Playground is sure to captivate wide attention – and spark intense discussion.
