Was the Sony Warehouse fire organized?

September 2, 2011 News: Was The Sony Warehouse Fire Organized? [DMN] is reporting a story which states the recent Sony Warehouse fire in England might have been planned. The fire damages effected nearly 150 labels. The disastrous warehouse fire affecting Sony Distribution, PIAS, and roughly 150 independent labels may have been an organized hit, according to sources now emerging.
The London-based Telegraph is pointing to evidence of a well-planned, coordinated robbery that used chaotic rioting and looting as cover. “Evidence has now emerged suggesting that the well-guarded Sony DADC distribution center was deliberately targeted by a professional gang, in a carefully planned raid, using the riots as a distraction,” probing Telegraph journalist John Bingham shared. In other words, substantial amounts of inventory may not have been melted and burned, as previously thought. Instead, product may have been carted off in vans by professionals seizing the anarchic moment.

In fact, Bingham offers drastically lowered estimates of just how many CDs, DVDs, and other pieces of inventory were actually destroyed. “Sources in the security industry disclosed that intruders first arrived wielding specialist cutting equipment and spent up to two hours dismantling a high security fence before breaking in,” Bingham continued. “By the time a crowd of youths were seen inside the warehouse helping themselves to stock including games consoles, the original robbers had already left the scene.”

The opportunism was well-timed, simply because Metropolitan Police were stretched thin dealing with a city-wide crisis. Several have been arrested in connection with warehouse looting and property destruction, though the apprehended were largely in their late-teens and early 20s – a group potentially admitted into the facility after the more complicated break-in was achieved. Metropolitan Police are not commenting on the ongoing investigation, and Sony is also remaining tight-lipped. But this fairly plausible theory introduces a range of difficult questions, including a flood of unauthorized CDs, DVDs, and other media into the black market. And, a somewhat different insurance conversation.

No-Id has a story to tell. Jay-Z has started on Next Album

From Billboard.com
Between helping Big Sean score a breakout hit, contributing to “Watch The Throne” and being named to a to a top position at Def Jam Recordings earlier this week, No I.D. has enjoyed a stellar 2011, and he’s not done yet. The veteran hip-hop producer tells Billboard.com that he hopes to make the most of his label position while readying new material for Nas, Common — and possibly Jay-Z.
“Jay has started again,” reveals No I.D., who worked with the hip-hop superstar on “Blueprint 3” hits like “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” and “Run This Town.” “He played me a couple of things. I gave him some music while we were at the ‘Watch the Throne’ sessions. But with Jay, you never know what he’s really doing, thinking, planning until it’s really done… I’m sure he’ll make a decision one day to make an album very quickly, like he usually does. He’s one of the best, period. I think he’s at a place where he has visions of what he wants to do, and it’s not really dependent on any of us. It’s dependent on his vision and he’s gonna do it, [and] hopefully I’ll be involved.

GLAAD Upset Over Tyler’s VMA Win

GLAAD issued the statement below in regards to the rapper’s 213 anti-gay slurs on his album, Goblin.

“Rather than providing simply a larger platform, MTV and other networks should educate viewers about why anti-gay and misogynistic language has no place in the music industry today,” said Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs at GLAAD. “Given Tyler’s history of such remarks, viewers and potential sponsors should refrain from honoring homophobia and in the future look to a more deserving artist.”

Lil Wayne released his new album, Tha Carter IV, on Monday at midnight. It’s been more than three years since his last official, full-length album, the triple-platinum-selling, Grammy-winning Tha Carter III. During the drought Lil Wayne had various legal issues and served eight months in prison. But his fan base has continued to grow, thanks to his digital strategy. No I.D. Appointed To Def Jam Executive VP

From Roc4Life:

Here’s one that got drowned out in all the VMA chatter. No I.D. has assumed a new position as the executive Vice-President of Def Jam Records. The Roc Nation producer and Kanye mentor talked about his new role at a pre-VMA bowling mixer.

“I’m (now) executive VP of Def Jam,” the Chicago native announced. “I’m going to keep on doing what I’m doing and take it to another level.”

No I.D., fondly known as the “Godfather of Chicago hip-hop,” has crafted hits for Common (“I Used to Love H.E.R.”), Jay-Z (“D.O.A.,” “Run This Town”), Rihanna, and others. Though he hopes to keep the hits coming, his new focus is to help Def Jam find new talent.

“Def Jam is a cultural staple,” No I.D. said. “It’s not just a label, it’s part of the culture that I came up in and that I’ve been involved with for 20 years. It’s very important that the next generation of executives grab it by the horns and keep it on track as it grows.”

Congratulations are in order.

Quote Of The Day Goes To The Aunt-To-Be

I have literally had my last leg with discriminating police! Miami police department will be notified. A police officer just pulled a weapon on me…. I have done NOTHING illegal, against the law, or anything of the sort. I am simply tired of police using arrogance, ego and authority as an offense.

I’m only tweeting this to raise awareness. I could have left quietly, but I am sick & tired of this scenario being played over & over again. I’m ok. I’m safe & sound at my apartment. I’m just beyond frustrated with the system. It is time to do something about it. I am a mother raising a young black child in America. I’m going to die trying!

Been on the phone for the last 20 minutes reporting this incident. Yes, I have the officers name. Yes, I have the location. Scare tactics don’t WORK.
