Kanye & Jay-z finally dropped their highly anticipated debut last night. 9th Wonder, who has worked with Jay-Z, gave his thoughts on the album via his Twitter account. Here’s what he had to say about the project:

Thank you God for giving me the ability to listen to music objectively, despite how big the artist is. Lemme tell yall something, I am not a follower, never will be, if something is dope, cool, if not, then cool, but I don’t follow. #STANDTALL.I just checked it out.#WTT. WTT as a whole is not for me. I can rock with “New Day” & “The Joy”. I understand expansion/experimentation in music, but its not for me. It has nothing to do with samples vs. keys, cause I ROCKS with The Neptunes, Swizz, etc.So lets see who’s the first Hip-Hop blog will be the first one to put up my thoughts of the album. So I guess my brother @marcopolo is crazy too? Nah, not at all.As a musician/beatmaker/active participant in hip-hop, I want to be SCARED when I hear something, like when I heard Aquemini. It has nothing to with the STYLE of rap, subject matter, NOTHING. Its the FEELING for me. U can KILL 50 people in a song as long as it bangs.

Q-tip to cancel his planned tour of Europe

“Unfortunately we have recently been told that Q-tip will have to cancel his planned tour of Europe this summer. This means he will not be appearing at The Øya festival in August. This is sad news, first of all for the fans. We know that many of you have been looking forward to seeing Q-tip in the Medieval park. We have not yet recieved much information concerning the cancellation, but we have been told that this is a health related matter as the artist has to go through an operation around the same time that The Øya Festival takes place. As you can understand, this is entirely beyond our control. We hope Q-tip will soon recover, and that he will be able to guest Øya at a later date.” [Oya]

Q-Tip was supposed to hit Oya Fest in Norway, Flow Festival in Finland, Way Out West in Sweden, and a bunch of other festivals on a tour that was set to last August 11 – 27. Lots of disappointed Europeans right now. That said, Q-Tip says “The european tour is currently being rescheduled. Even in festival cities.”

Meanwhile catch Q-Tip on the 1s and 2s at Brooklyn Bowl Sunday night (8/7), and live (I think) with the Flaming Lips, Neon Indian, and Wavves in Long Island.

Big Sean Arrested On Sexual Charges IN NY

Just got word, last night following a concert in Lewiston, NY, Big Sean, was arrested and charged with third-degree sex abuse, forcible touching and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. He was later released after posting $500 bail.

Last night, recording artists, Sean “Big Sean” Anderson and Willie “Sayitainttone” Hansbro were arrested and then immediately released by the NY State Police in connection with an allegation made by a female who was at their concert in Lewiston, New York. Both men were charged with misdemeanors and they both vehemently deny the allegations. I am confident, that after further investigation, both men will be vindicated.

Heather Morris, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Kunal Nayyar and Alain Chabat will also join previously-announced cast of Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, Jeremy Renner, John Leguizamo, Sean William Scott, Aziz Ansari, Wanda Sykes, Keke Palmer, Jennifer Lopez, Drake and Josh Peck.

Chris Wedge, who helmed the first pic in the “Ice Age” franchise, will reprise his role as Scrat, whose pursuit of an acorn has world-changing consequences that help Sid (Leguizamo) reunite with his long lost family. The rest of the gang, meanwhile, tries to make their way home despite roadblocks from a determined menagerie of colorful characters.

NBA season canceled? Union chief Billy Hunter predicts season will be lost

If Kevin Durant and John Lucas III keep lighting up summer games, this won’t be cataclysmic news until next winter, but Billy Hunter, executive director of the NBA Players Association, thinks the upcoming season will be canceled.

If he “had to bet on it,” Hunter said Wednesday that he’d wager that all of the 2011-12 season would be lost to the lockout.

“We’re $800 million apart per year,” Hunter said, via the Baltimore Sun, in a seminar at a National Bar Association conference in Baltimore. Hunter said the problem lies with a faction of hard-line owners.

“The circumstances have changed among his constituency,” said Hunter said of Commissioner David Stern. “In the last six or seven years, there is a new group of owners to come in who paid a premium for their franchises, and what they’re doing is kind of holding his feet to the fire.”

Asked whether there would be a season, he said: “If I had to bet on it at this moment, I would probably say no.”

Dallas police have released the 911 tape from the Nicki Minaj hotel fight last month — in which you can hear a woman, referred to as “Nicki,” scream … “Look at what he did to my face!”

As TMZ first reported, cops responded to the Palomar Hotel on July 12th — after Nicki complained that some guy she knew hit her in the face with a suitcase.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, Nicki refused to press charges after paramedics arrived.

Amy Winehouse’s ‘Final Recording’ To Be Released in September

Before her untimely passing, Amy Winehouse had been writing material for her third album and had collaborated with the legendary Tony Bennett. Columbia Records will release the pair’s duet, which is being described as her “final recording,” next month with proceeds benefitting charity.

“Body and Soul” was recorded in March at Abbey Road Studios in London for Bennett’s upcoming 85th birthday album Duets II. The song will be released in September in aid of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was created by the late singer’s family to help a number of charities connected with children and young people.

“We wanted to make a positive difference and help a range of causes close to Amy’s heart,” stated Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse. “This could include help for children in trouble, suffering from health problems, children’s hospices, and more.

“While it is separate from my campaign to find more help for young addicts, that may be one of the areas that Foundation contributes to. We intend to raise funds and distribute them to individual projects who apply for help. I couldn’t be happier that everyone involved with Amy and this recording felt they wanted to contribute.”

Amy considered Bennett one of her idols, so the song is a fitting tribute. “Amy was so excited to be working with Tony Bennett and really looking forward to her fans hearing this new recording,” added her father. “The fact that Amy’s voice is sounding as amazing and beautiful as ever and she is singing with the great Tony Bennett seems the most fitting tribute of all at this very difficult time.”

Duets II is due September 20 featuring “Body and Soul,” as well as collaborations with Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, and Queen Latifah.

Rick Ross To Open His Own Chain Of Wingstop Restaurants

Platinum selling rapper Rick Ross is expanding his business empire into the restaurant business, via a new partnership with national restaurant chain, Wingstop.

Rick Ross has signed a development agreement with the Richardson, Texas-based company, which has over 480 Wingstop restaurants across the United States and Mexico.

Rick Ross will open the first of several Wingstop restaurants in Memphis, this Fall.

Ross, who name checked Wingstop brand on the song “MC Hammer” from his album Teflon Don, felt an affinity with the brand, which made it easier to make the decision to invest.

“After tasting Wingstop’s signature lemon pepper–flavored wings in Miami, I knew this was a franchise I wanted to add to my investments,” Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com in a statement today (August 4th).

The Wingstop menu focuses solely on cooked-to-order chicken, along with the chain’s newest offering, glider sandwiches.

Rick Ross joins a number of celebrities who have invested in the Wingstop franchise.

Earlier this year, NFL star Troy Aikman became an investor in the company and now sits on the Board of Directors.

“Rick Ross will be a great addition to the wing stop family,” said Jim Flynn, Wingstop’s CEO. “He’s a talented artist and brings a huge fan base to the concept. We look forward to growing the brand with him in Memphis.”

Rick Ross’ Wingstop location in Memphis is slated to open this Fall, at 7706 Winchester Road.
