Late News: Lil’ Mama Is An Idiot

…and not because of the accusation you are about to read, since it could be true for all I know. This woman needs some PR training. Taken from her interview with VIBE:
Very valid point… I think the biggest style criticism was thrown at you this past MTV Movie Awards. Bunch of people thought you jacked Nicki’s haircut.
But my cut is blunt and futuristic and Nicki Minaj started wearing that bob on her head after she came to my show, so at the end of the day I know what I do and I know what I possess and I know who I am. I’m a trendsetter. The biggest form of flattery is imitation so I’m flattered. I understand the universal law. I’m not confused, I don’t feel like a follower. I started so many things that new artists are doing now anyway –my style, the way I’m aggressive on a track, the way I come through, the way my beat bangs. There are so many things that were borrowed, that I influenced that’s happening in music right, so I’m far from discouraged.

0615_bizzy_bones_ex_getty

Law enforcement sources tell us … the two alleged victims — both male — told police they each paid $80 for a meet-and-greet with the rappers on their tour bus last Thursday night … but when they entered the vehicle, Bizzy flipped out.

One of the men told cops the screaming match quickly escalated … and Bizzy began throwing punches. Bizzy allegedly wailed on BOTH men until another member of the group stepped in and broke things up.

We’re told both of the fans appeared bruised after the alleged attack — and one of the men claims he suffered a broken nose.

Chicago Police confirm one of the men filed a police report against Bizzy the following day.

Cops tell us they have not spoken to Bizzy about the incident, but are actively investigating the complaint.

Calls to Bizzy’s reps have not yet been returned. S/O TMZ.com

Kanye Reacts To “Mama’s Boyfriend” Leak

The version of the Kanye West recording “Mama’s Boy” that arrived on blog sites earlier this week is entirely bogus and unsanctioned, and violates the artist’s creative intentions. As is often the unfortunate case, an unknown party or parties got a hold of Kanye West’s vocal track and added their own soundbed to it, effectively and falsely releasing it as a Kanye West track from the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions. The result in no way resembles the final song Kanye West intended his fans to hear, and he is deeply disappointed that one of the most personal, meaningful and special songs he has ever written would reach people in this way. Needless to say, measures are being taken to identify and prosecute the persons responsible for leaking this material.

DJ Big Mike Arrested For Music Piracy

Michael Willcox better known as DJ Big Mike was arrested last week for Music Piracy. Apparently, the investigation has been going on for almost two years now, and Surveillance teams finally caught he and his brother in the act of distributing illegal CDs. More arrests are going to be made in the coming weeks. Read Full Store here

The investigation began with the Recording Industry Association of America, a trade group that sent its own team of investigators to conduct a surveillance of a suspected “burner lab” at 27 Stetson Place in Danbury where pirated CDs were alleged being made and distributed, according to the affidavit.
The trade group is comprised of record companies that create, manufacture and distribute about 85-percent of all legitimate sound recordings made and sold in the United States, according to the affidavit. Three investigators from RIAA began the surveillance in Feburary of 2009.
The investigators allegedly followed a 1995 Ford Explorer registered to Willcox from his Danbury home to a residence at 12 George St., Mount Vernon, NY, which was suspected of supplying the materials and equipment used to manufacture recordable CDs and DVDs, according to the affidavit.

Jimmy Henchman?! 2Pac’s Quad Studio Shooter Confesses

Holy shit.
The day before Tupac Shakur’s 40th birthday, one of the mysteries that surrounded his life has been solved. Though his murder remains unsolved, AllHipHop.com reports that Dexter Isaac, an associate of music exec Jimmy Henchman, has confessed to shooting 2Pac in the lobby of Quad Studios in November 1994. He says Henchman paid him $2,500 for the hit.
This is the shooting the essentially sparked the East coast vs. West coast beef. Tupac accused Biggie and Pac for setting him up. On the song “Against All Odds”, Pac even pointed fingers at Henchman.
Because of statue of limitations, Issac will not be prosecuted for the crime. He also admitted to still having Pac’s jewelery. Meanwhile, Henchman is currently on the run from Federal agents after failing to turn himself in cocaine distribution charges.

Wow: 2 Men Arrested for Plotting to Rob & Murder Singer Joss Stone!!

I came across this story from Marisa from IFWT, Two men are now behind bars for allegedly conspiring to rob and murder the young singer. Read details after the jump.

The official statements do not name Stone as the target, but the details all focus on the proximity of the men to Stone’s home in Cullompton, England.

The Sun newspaper reports the men had swords, rope and a body bag, as well as maps and aerial photos of Stone’s property. Police have not confirmed the reports.

Stone’s reps say the singer is aware of the situation but would not say if she was at home at the time the men were arrested near her property.

The 2 men are being questioned at a police station, but they have not been charged.

UPDATE: Joss just released a statement saying, “I’d like to thank everyone for their concern but I’m absolutely fine and getting on with life as normal while the police continue with their enquiries.”

Joell Ortiz Fully Addresses ‘Big Pun Back’ Controversy

From HipHopDX:

After Pun’s widow Liza Rios, Tony Sunshine and Cuban Link disapproved of his tribute, the Slaughterhouse member sets the record straight.

Not only has Big Pun’s widow Liza Rios deemed Joell Ortiz’s “Big Pun’s Back” as “disrespectful,” but Pun affiliates Cuban Link and Tony Sunshine echoed her sentiments yesterday. Speaking with Funkmaster Flex, the Slaughterhouse rapper explained that he “don’t gotta check in with anybody about anything.”

He first addressed how he was puzzled as to why Rios, who previously told him Pun “would have been so proud of [you],” would take her stance, given the history they have together.

“To be honest with you, I was really confused because I’ve been bigging up her late husband since the beginning of my career. This is not the first time I’ve ever done a tribute,” he said. “To my knowledge, I thought everything was smooth between us. I thought we was peoples. And I kind of feel like we’re still peoples! I’m still confused. This is the same woman who asked me to perform for her husband on stage with his urn next to me. I didn’t understand the tweet and where it was coming from. Since I haven’t spoken to her, I’m still a little confused. I can’t even say I’m mad. I just don’t know what’s going on.”

The Brooklyn, New York rapper also felt the same way about Tony Sunshine and Cuban Link’s reaction to the song.

“Once again, I was confused. When I speak on them, I speak a little different, because Cuban knows me. I had met Tony Sunshine before. It was a tribute, and it was a freestyle and it was in memory of a great rapper,” he continued. “Flex, I’m from Brooklyn. I don’t have to check in with anyone about anything. I did it for Big Pun to keep his legacy alive. That’s it. to be honest with you, I’m in September in my mind already. ‘Big Pun’s Back’ was recorded late April, early May, knowing that the Puerto Rican Day parade was coming up and knowing that his tribute and his legacy needed to stay alive. Who else but me? That’s how I felt. But I don’t gotta check in with anybody. About anything.”

Soulja Boy & Vybz Kartel Cover FADER; Fat Trel To Appear In Summer Music Issue

In the grand tradition of FADER’s annual jam-packed Summer Music Issue, we are pleased and proud to announce this year’s featuring Vybz Kartel and Soulja Boy. Both cover stars are prolific artists with huge followings—though we feel they still have tons of room to grow. Vybz Kartel is one of the most famous men in Jamaica, a prominent, powerful artist with steadily brewing controversy. Photographer Michael Schmelling and writer Eddie “Stats” Houghton went down to Jamaica to find out both about Kartel’s new album and get the straight story behind his skin bleaching and body modification obsession. Photographer Dorothy Hong and writer Felipe Delerme visited Soulja Boy in his Atlanta penthouse, where he drank lean and smoked pot incessantly, smiled infectiously and talked about how he’s been a millionaire since he was a teenager. With three mixtapes already out this year, plans to play Tupac in a remake of Juice and possibly the whitest teeth the world has ever seen, there’s little chance he’ll be slowing soon. Inside the magazine, we also have full features on the legendary DJ Harvey (your favorite DJs favorite DJ) and the dusky BBQ-ready dudes in Woods.
We’ve got looks at a ton of new artists like Jhene Aiko, Fat Trel, Grimes and Clams Casino, too. There’s a full FADER guide to art, books, movies and more this summer, looks at the best swimsuits, thoughts on interning for reclusive genius Terrence Malik, a beautiful fashion feature shot in Mexico and much, much more. Our table of contents is redesigned; nerds, it will blow your mind. All this drops on newsstands and iPads on June 21st, a week from today. Kelly Rowland’s Father Wants To Reunite

You can check out the full write-up here.
Rowland, who is currently judging Simon Cowell’s U.K. X-Factor, has reportedly not seen her biological father Christopher Lovett since she was seven years old. Now Lovett, 65, hopes to change that and sat down for an interview with Britain’s The Daily Mirror where he spoke on his failed relationship with his daughter.
Choking back tears he told The Mirror, “Kelly, I love you with all my heart. Please forgive me and let me be your dad again.”According to Lovett, he failed to provide for his family, had a drinking problem and a ‘vicious temper’ that tore his family apart
While Rowland hasn’t had contact with him in over two decades, she previously spoke of her father in an interview saying, “I don’t know where he is but I hope he’s not dead. That would break my heart. I remember my dad being drunk and aggressive towards my mom but not me. I don’t know if he knows who I am or what I’ve done. He must be hiding under a rock if he doesn’t.”
Lovett also made sure to add that he’s not after his celebrity daughter’s money, but just wants to be in her life during his old age.”I own a big home now and have retired so I don’t want any of Kelly’s fortune, I just want her love”.
