Kreayshawn May Have Signed Million Dollar Deal With Sony

From Miss Info:

All it takes it one viral hit to hit paydirt. Just ask Oakland-native Kreayshawn. The indie female rapper’s song “Gucci Gucci” went from youtube hit to hipster sensation in just a few months, sparking a bidding war with multiple labels. Today, insiders tell Miss Info that Kreayshawn has signed with Sony for over a million dollars. Will she live up to the hype? And if the music cant sell enough to justify the upfront payoff, does she have the presence to make the 360 degrees of shows and merchandise worthwhile?

Amy Winehouse Is Back in Rehab

The singer’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE that the 27-year-old singer checked into a rehab clinic on Wednesday as part of an ongoing battle with alcohol addiction.

She “has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic. She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice,” the rep said in a statement.

According to a source close to the singer, it was a move initiated by her father Mitch Winehouse. “Her dad sat her down and said ‘I think you’re drinking too much again.’ So she agreed to go an assessment to stop it becoming a bigger problem.”

The singer downed a miniature bottle of Smirnoff vodka on her way to the clinic on Wednesday, “in typical Amy style,” said the friend.

Fortunately the singer, who has a series of summer gigs planned in Europe kicking off June 18, took heed to her father’s words and checked herself into the clinic. “She’s determined, and this is all off her own back,” said the source. “It’s just a lapse. There are ups and downs on the road, and there have been mostly ups recently. But this is a down and she’s done the right thing and gone to rehab.”

T.I. Helps Families Of 14 Fellow Inmates Visit Correctional Facility

From MTV:
Tip, who is currently incarcerated at the Forrest City Correctional Facility in Forrest City, Arkansas, in the midst of an 11-month bid for a probation violation after an L.A. drug arrest, sponsored a bus trip for the 46 family members of 14 fellow inmates to visit the prison.

“I’ve been blessed to receive tons and tons of mail from my fans, family and friends, as well as get visits on a regular basis. Unfortunately some guys aren’t as fortunate,” T.I. said in a statement obtained by MTV News. “There are a lot of good dudes in here that haven’t been able to see there loved ones in years. Their families can’t afford the trip so I wanted to help out.”

Eve Sends Lil’ Kim A Word Or Two Of Advice

“I need her to stop. If I was Kim’s friend, I’d be like, yo. Because she’s Kim, period,” Eve said in an interview. “So she never has to feed. She shouldn’t. It’s bad. It’s not a good look. If I was her friend, I’d tell her, yo, just come back bigger and better. The best way to get at people is to do you better than you’ve ever done you. So that’s it…I love it.”

“You know, it’s definitely a nice group of females that’s out representing, but because I come from hip-hop, I need more females in hip-hop,” she continued. “Nicki definitely is holding the flag down, and a lot of people be wanting me to hate just because that’s how girls supposed to do in hip-hop, but I’m loving everything she does. But we need more females, man. There’s too much testosterone in the hip-hop game.”

Band Releases Album as Location-Based App

The National Mall by BLUEBRAIN. The First Location-Aware Album from BLUEBRAIN on Vimeo.

Washington, D.C.-based band Bluebrain’s new album drops Friday, but not in the way one might think. It will be available on iTunes, but not in MP3 form — rather as a location-aware app that only works within the stretch of park in downtown D.C. called the Mall.

“The music changes and evolves based on your chosen path within the park,” says Ryan Holladay, one half of the band. (His brother, Hays, makes up the other half of the outfit.) “To do this, the app uses the phone’s built-in GPS capabilities.” The app features a map of the Mall that shows what locations are tagged with sound.

The album, titled The National Mall, contains about three hours of music that the brothers composed while traipsing around the area. “It was certainly the most amount of exercise I’ve ever gotten while making an album,” Holladay says.
Instantly changes as you wander around the park, Holladay tells us. Ascending the hill toward the Washington Monument, you’ll hear only a cello, then, gradually, violins, a choir, clapping, fireworks and drumbeats will come into the mix as you get closer to the obelisk.

RZA’s Next Film: The Man with the Iron Fist

Spotted on 2dopeboyz:
We all know it’s common knowledge that Ruler Zig-Zag-Zig Allah is a heavy Kung-Fu enthusiast and has made appearances in more than a few films. As of recent, The Abbot has been out in Shanghai shooting a new film titled The Man with the Iron Fist which recently wrapped up that so far is set to feature Lucy Liu, Russell Crowe, Pam Grier and Rick Yune. Universal Pictures gave the Wu-Tang captain a budget of twenty-two million to make this happen and the film is expected to release later this year. To top it off, Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth are producers of the film, so there will be a slim chance that it will suck (see the recent Inglourious Basterds). Read more about it here.

Jay-Z & Others Named In Ticket Fixing Scandal

From HipHopDX:
When Jay-Z’s driver gets pulled over for violating traffic laws, he gets off easy. According to the New York Daily News, Hov is one of many celebrities including A-Rod and Raymond Felton to use their star power to weasel out of tickets, with policemen unlawfully fixing tickets after they learn that the violators were celebrities or celebrity affiliates.
The report claims that Jay-Z’s driver was pulled over last year for speeding on the West Side Highway. A “friendly” cop lost the paperwork after it was filed, and the case was subsequently swept under the rug. Jay-Z’s publicist declined to comment.
The Internal Affairs Bureau is currently investigating these incidents. If found in violation of the law, as many as 40 policeman could be indicted for “improperly voiding tickets, losing paperwork or purposely missing court dates in order to squash summonses.”
