Another Rapper Bites The Dust.

Ja Rule is set to go to prison in June in a New York City gun case.

On Wednesday, a judge set a June 8 date for the platinum-selling rapper-actor’s sentencing. His lawyer says he’ll spend the intervening months finishing a new album, “Renaissance Project,” and taking care of tax matters.

The 35-year-old performer pleaded guilty in December to attempted weapon possession. He agreed to a two-year prison term.

Police say they found a loaded gun in a rear door of his luxury sports car when it was stopped for speeding after a July 2007 concert.

Ja Rule was nominated for a 2002 best rap album Grammy Award for “Pain is Love.” His movie credits include 2001’s “The Fast and the Furious” and 2003’s “Scary Movie 3.” (AP)

Young Buck Is Facing 10 Years…

From NBC Nashville:

A notorious rapper from Nashville is in trouble again. Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, is facing federal charges for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Channel 4 was the only station in federal court Monday afternoon when the rapper was brought in in handcuffs to appear before the judge. As the indictment spells out, these latest charges could mean ten years in prison.

Read more after the jump.

He’s the only rapper from Nashville to sell more than a million records. At Christmas 2009, Young Buck said “it just feels good to be able to be a helping hand to these families.”

Through his Toys for Joy Express program, Young Buck gave more than 300 Nashville children and their families toys, household goods and clothes for Christmas.

But lately the rapper has been in financial and now legal trouble. He’s now facing federal charges. According to an indictment unsealed Monday, he’s charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a .40-caliber pistol and ammunition.

Federal authorities say all this happened on or about Aug. 3.

And that was about the same time federal agents raided his Hendersonville home. Records that Channel 4 obtained showed that the 29-year-old owed roughly $300,000 in taxes dating back to 2006.

A few months later, the rapper sued the Internal Revenue Service, saying the government’s response to his tax problems hurt his ability to make money and pay off his debts.

Last year, he also filed for bankruptcy and sued his former manager and rapper 50 Cent over a contract dispute that prevented Young Buck from releasing a new album.

Outside federal court Monday, Young Buck, nor his manager, commented on the latest charges.

But inside court, Brown pleaded not guilty, and his attorney said these charges came as a surprise to both he and his client. Brown is out on bond, but according to the terms of his release, he must surrender his passport. However, Young Buck is supposed to perform in Canada soon.

So the judge is allowing the rapper to post $100,000 bond by Friday and then he’ll get his passport back.

In 2004, Young Buck was charged and convicted of stabbing a man at the Vibe Awards in California and with that conviction, he can no longer carry a gun or ammunition.

Quote Of The Day

From Chris Rock, who spoke on his skit on the Kanye Album to the New York Times. Spotted at Vulture.
“I did that quicker than I read scripts that they offer me money to do,” he said. “I thank him so much it probably freaks him out. Especially at this late date, to get on something, the album of the moment, that stuff is priceless, you can’t put a price tag on that.”
“I felt invigorated by it,” he said. “I’ve still got my fastball.”

Wiz Khalifa Responds To Lil Wayne’s ESPN Interview

Spotted on Karen Civil:

A few days before the Super Bowl, ESPN’s 1st & 10 had Lil Wayne as a special guest on the show. There wasn’t anything surprising about that seeing as how Weezy has been on the show before and is good friends with the show’s resident debater Skip Bayless. They had him on the show to speak about “Green & Yellow” – which at that time had been released maybe a day before and was already becoming a topic of discussion as the fight song for the Green Bay Packers.
“Nah, not at all. I don’t think it had anything to do with that,” said Wiz confidently. However, the DXnext alum did note that Wayne missed an opportunity in the interview that aired days before the Super Bowl to acknowledge a peer “I’ve seen the interview, I think it’s just the case of what a lot of older dudes do now…this is just me being real by saying this, they try to act like they don’t know who I am, or try to act like I don’t know what I’m doing,” Wiz stated. “Because when [ESPN] did the interview with [Lil] Wayne, he was [saying] that he heard the song from the [Pittsburgh] Steelers – he heard it ’cause it was my song, but he didn’t say that. He had an opportunity to step up and say that, and he didn’t.”

Lupe Sees Your Responses….

In all truth and honestly, I can’t really say I liked the album after a few listens–actually, I won’t use the word like….I will say that it was the equivalent of how Bobby Ray’s hardcore Hip-Hop fans might have felt after they heard his debut album. It’s a project for everyone that crosses genres and speaks on many levels, but ultimately probably alienated the fans of both his more soulful/conscious sounding (Food & Liquor) and darker (The Cool) works.
Not only am I going to buy the album to support, I will also probably end up enjoying the album the more I listen to it. We’ll see, I suppose. Just my opinion.

Wow. Quote Of The Day.

I hope you didn’t expect me to post a picture of Farrakhan over this.
Minister Farrakhan preached to the Nation of Islam over the weekend at the annual Saviour’s Day celebration over the weekend. This is what he had to say about Rihanna of all people:
“A minister says I perform filthy, sat and watched the filth, then called you SWINE for doing the same! Haa, is that judgment in your tone? I certainly don’t think you are swine! But a holy man of God does!!!”

Christina Aguilera = Charlie Sheen

From TMZ:
Cops say … Aguilera was a passenger in a car driven by Matthew Rutler when officers noticed he was driving erratically around 2:45 AM … so they pulled the vehicle over.
Officers determined Rutler was drunk and arrested him for misdemeanor DUI.
Cops say the deputies determined Aguilera was also “extremely intoxicated” … and since she was unable to care for herself, Aguilera was taken into custody.
Aguilera was booked for public intoxication — and according to the booking sheet, she was listed at 5’2″ and 100 lbs.
Sources close to Xtina tell us they have been trying to get the singer into a rehab program for weeks.
Read more from US Weekly after the jump.

An insider tells the new issue of Us Weekly (on stands now) that the Burlesque star and the production assistant even had sex in a bathroom at a recent family gathering.
“Her friends are fed up,” the source says of Aguilera’s recent antics, which included a New Year’s Eve blowout fight with her mom and a booze-filled night of crying at L.A. club The Dime in January. “Nobody can get through to her. They think she’s trashy. And her ego is out of control.”
And at least one Aguilera pal isn’t confident things will improve any time soon.
“She’s really spiraling,” says the source. “I would be shocked if she’s not in rehab in the next month or two.”
