Vado Releasing Two Slime Flu Versions

In an interview with MTV’s Rapfix, Vado speaks on the origins of the term “Slime” and the Diplomats reunion. He also explains the transition of the upcoming mixtape, Slime Flu going retail on October 12 and mentions another version with Drama will be released.

How did Slime Flu go from a mixtape to an album?
The anticipation, most definitely, [and] the buzz. And Cam felt that we give ya’ll a trilogy of Boss of All Bosses, which is what built my anticipation. He said you might as well put Slime Flu in stores.
How did Drama feel about not doing it anymore?
Drama’s my dude. I’ll have a Slime Flu in stores but after that comes out I’m putting out a Slime Flu with Drama, definitely, and then we putting out Boss of All Bosses 3 with Drama.
The one Drama will produce will have different music?
Definitely. We got over 100 songs, we work every day. I’m leaking songs every week, and those not even on the album. I keep saying album, I mean mixtape.

Usher Covers VIBE

Usher takes the cover of VIBE magazine. Before the October/November lands at newsstands, check out an excerpt from Mr. Raymond’s cover story below.

On Raymond V Raymond being a career rebound:
“I don’t think it was a rebound at all. Some people in my organization felt like it was a rebound, but for me it was business as usual. Were there hard times in the process? Absolutely. I think it was the first time that doubt was ever amongst the opinions. Like, Can he do it again? Is it possible that this can happen? When you have 15 years of a legacy built, it shouldn’t be questionable with one album.”

Russell Simmons Speaks On LL Cool J & Beastie Boys Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Fame Nominations

Spotted this on Global Grind:
Nothing makes me happier than seeing the greatest of all time, LL Cool J, getting nominated to become a member of the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame.

I remember when Todd was just a young, runaway kid who kept sending his demo tape to Rick Rubin’s dorm room. When we first listened to his tape, we knew we had to make Todd part of the Def Jam family.

Over the years, Todd made hit after hit, and maybe only to Jay-Z, he has the most hits in hip-hop history…at least in my book.

And while on this subject, I also want to give praise to the Beastie Boys who have also been nominated.  When I first met the Beasties, they were a bunch of white kids from New York City who were doing this new thing in music, fusing rock and rap and making it accessible to every white kid in America.

However, they took this incredible sound and made EVERY kid in America want to rock one of the greatest albums ever, license To Ill.  They are amazing people and I feel honored to have the chance to have worked with them during the early years of Def Jam. I look forward to seeing them on the stage being inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame.
