Killer Mike Writes Essay About Michael Brown, Police Violence

We are human beings. We deserve to be buried by our children not the other way around. No matter how u felt about black people look at this mother and look at this father and tell me as a human being how u cannot feel empathy for them. How can u not feel sympathy for their pain and loss. These are not ‘THOTS, niggas/niggers, hoes, Ballers, Divas.’ These two people are parents. They are humans that produced a child and loved that child and that child was slaughtered like Game and left face down as public spectacle while his blood drained down the street.

Look at the pain of this mother; look into her eyes. Look at the man behind her. Look at that father made helpless and hurt that he cud not defend his seed. Don’t debate. Don’t insert your agenda. Save me the bullshit Black On Black Crime speech and look at these two Noble creatures called humans and look at what govt-sanctioned murder has done. It has robbed them of their humanity and replaced it with pain and shame, suffering and hurt.

I don’t care if others rioted or why. I don’t care that ballplayers and rappers are what they shud be. I care that we as humans care as much about one another more. I care we see past Class, race and culture and honor the humanity that unites our species. Stop talking and LOOK at these PEOPLE. LOOK at these HUMANS and stand with them against a system allows a Human PIG to slaughter their child. Forgive any typos love and respect u all.

Lil Durk Receives Probation On Gun Charges

Lil_durk_mug

Spotted on NBC Chicago:

Rapper Lil Durk will not serve any additional jail time after pleading guilty Tuesday to two weapons charges stemming from a 2013 arrest.

Durk D. Banks, 21, was arrested June 5, 2013, in the 7200 block of South Green Street after police responded to a report of a person with a gun and saw Banks with a handgun, Sun-Times Media reported previously.

Banks, of Melrose Park, was less than a month away from completing his parole for a 2012 conviction for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon when he was arrested.

During a hearing Tuesday before Judge Joseph G. Kazmierski Jr., Banks pleaded guilty to one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and one count of felony possession of a firearm, court records show.

He was sentenced to 18 months probation and 50 hours of community service, records show. Kazmierski ordered Banks to serve the first 30 days of his probation in jail, but gave him credit for time he already served, meaning Banks will not have to spend any more time behind bars.

Banks praised his legal team in a message posted to Twitter, saying “S/o Sam Adams JR great lawyer to have on your side il take probation anyday I don’t smoke or drink anyway.”

The Chicago-based rapper is signed to Def Jam Records, and is expected to release his debut album later this year.

YG Ends Show After 20 Minutes, Jumps Into Crowd (Video)

While in Edmonton yesterday for the Canadian version of his My Krazy Life tour, YG had somewhat of a bad show. At the very start of the concert, the rapper apparently lost his voice and went back stage. He returned shortly to bring up a fan in a wheel chair. After ice cubes were thrown at him (and after a brief warning), the rapper and his security jumped into the crowd and began fighting with the supposed assailant. My Krazy Life indeed.

Meek Mill Ordered to Pay $2k to Philly Police After Lost Lawsuit

According to the Jasmine Brand, this order is going out despite Meek still being held in a Philadelphia jail. The site said “a judge has yet to determine if he will be released early. ”

There aren’t any concrete news reports on this as of yet, but peers (including some credible DJs) seem to be confirming the speculation: last night, folks are stating that actor/artist Anwan ‘Big G’ Glover was stabbed at Cafe Asia. Unfortunately, there aren’t any other details at the time of this post.

If this is indeed what occurred, we send out prayers up to the ‘Ghetto Prince’ of D.C. Life is short and this city is full of messed up people. Stayed tuned for official reports…

2ND UPDATE: According to the Baltimore Sun, Glover’s injures were described as not life threatening and he was released from George Washington University Hospital today.

Jeremih Changes Upcoming Album Name

Jeremih-031612

Once called Thumpy Johnson, Jeremih has decided that he’s going to play off of his 2012 mixtape Late Nights With Jeremih as the new title. He speaks on the name change below:

“The last body of work I put out was Late Nights. I still feel like how I was feeling when I recorded that. I was traveling, up late nights, recording all the time. It just felt like every record was catering to… I imagined if it was a big bed in the club, everybody would be in one big ass orgy off of all the songs [on the LP].

My first two albums I was making sad songs. I don’t feel like that no more. I was in a relationship then. I’m single as hell right now. You’re getting the best of my last single years.” [Laughs]

Late Nights (the album) hits stores September 30th. Preceding that is his upcoming mixtape N.O.M.A. (Not On My Album), out on Monday.

Trinidad James Dropped From Def Jam

In a move which should come to nobody’s surprise, Trinidad James has announced that Def Jam has unceremoniously dropped him from the label. He was pretty straightforward about his reality, too: if anyone gave him production on what is now a free album, don’t expect to be paid for it — he has no more money.

I’m not going to really speak on the matter, as you’d be pretty retarded not to know what could have caused the drop….I will say that I hope he’s able to find his core fan base and rebound with some consistent music for that crowd.

Mike Will Made It Signs Group Two-9

nin

Mike WiLL Made It has officially recruited JUKEBOX:DOPECONTENT favorites Two-9 (who also hail from Atlanta), signing them to his Ear Druma Records roster. He speaks on the group’s inclusion into his Interscope Records imprint below.

There hasn’t been a collective of creative coming out of Atlanta like Two-9 since Outkast. They have great energy, make dope music, and they’re always trying to push things forward, not box themselves in. I respect their art, their grind, and their whole movement, and I’m excited to help them take their brand to the next level.

Omarion Arrested, Released From Jail Over Traffic Ticket (Video)

Spotted on TMZ:

Omarion was just hauled off to jail because he committed a cardinal driving sin — not showing up to court on a traffic ticket.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the singer was tooling around the San Fernando Valley late Friday morning when he was stopped for running a stop sign. The officer ran his license and found there was a warrant out for his arrest … for failing to appear in court on an earlier traffic ticket.

The singer was cuffed and taken to jail.

Omarion — the former lead singer of B2K — is being held on $20,000 bail.

Lil Wayne & Christina Milian Are Probably Screwing…

lil-wayne-christinas

…at least it looked that way at this year’s ESPYs, where the two — you can together — were seen holding hands (above). Not that that really means anything. Weezy wins again.

Interesting connection: Lil’ Wayne has a child by singer Nivea, who also has children by The=Dream, who has children with Christina Milian. A lot of sharing taking place within those rap circles…

UPDATE: So, Milian is denying that she and Wayne are shacking up. Interesting, though: she can be seen here speaking on her upcoming new mixtape titled Tina Turn Up, which is ironically a term that Weezy’s referred to before. Hmmm.

Drake Pays Rappin’ 4-Tay $100,000 Over Borrowed Lyrics

drake_rappin_lyrics

Spotted on TMZ:

Drake just paid a ton of respect to Rappin’ 4-Tay — in the form of cold, hard cash — to settle a beef in which 4-Tay claimed Drizzy jacked his rhymes.

4-Tay first put Drake on blast when YG’s hit “Who Do You Love” came out. Drake drops lyrics on the song that are clearly ripped straight from 4-Tay’s 1994 hit “Playaz Club.”

4-Tay was offended Drake didn’t give him credit on the song. No lawsuit was ever filed, but sources close to the situation tell us a very lucrative agreement was reached.

4-Tay’s manager tells TMZ … Drake’s record label agreed to pay 4-Tay $100,000 for “borrowing” the lines.

Not shockingly … 4-Tay tells us he’s no longer offended.

Drake Responds To Being Called A Bandwagon Sports Fan

drake

Drake will be hosting this year’s ESPY Awards (ESPN’s version of celebrating great moments in sports and athletes for the year) this Wednesday, and recently took part in a conference call to speak on the upcoming show with the media. During the call, Complex’s Frazier Tharpe asked Drake if he’s now a Cleveland Cavaliers fan; this is because Drake’s close friend and NBA player Lebron James has returned to that team. Being that the Toronto rapper has become the boom for many jokes concerning flip-flop fans, he had this to say in response:

Well, first of all, I’d like to say that despite what everyone on the Internet thinks, I do not team jump. In the past I’ve always supported the player and not the institution—unless we’re talking about the Kentucky Wildcats and the Toronto Raptors; I will never stray from them. But whether it comes to soccer or football or basketball, I have a lot of friends that play for a lot of teams. I’m not team jumping. I’m a supportive friend.

Of course, I’m gonna go watch games in Cleveland. If not for LeBron—who I said is a brother to me, we’ve got three kids from Toronto on one team, plus Manziel who is part of our family and our brother. I definitely have to look into some real estate in Cleveland and spend some months of the year out there. Like I said, my teams will always forever be who they are but I will support the group who has shifted to Cleveland.

He also spoke on Skylar Diggins, who — in addition to himself — has been crushed on by much of the Young Monday roster (this includes boss Lil Wayne) as well as the rest of the male Rap community:

I’ve never met Skylar, but I’m sure it’ll be extremely awkward if she does show up. She probably won’t though…her boyfriend will probably have her tied down to a chair that night.

The ESPYs premieres on ESPN 16th July, 8PM EST.
